UPDATED: The Beginning Of The End

31 May

Entrenamiento_Real_Madrid (9) I have The Doors’ ‘The End’ rolling through my brain right now…

“This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end
Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end

I’ll never look into your eyes…again

Well, at least that part is pertinent, before it turns into a acid fueled hippie freak out, but you know what I mean.

The end of The Era of Mou is upon us. He helmed his last training session today with his staff. Oh, how I will miss them all. Maybe some will stay? Ever faithful Rui is going with Mou. Rumor is that Karanka wants to go with him, but he is contracted to Real Madrid. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

I will certainly miss this hot ass physio whose name I never did find out. Just his initials: L.Z. He can stay…IN MY BED. Ahem.

Entrenamiento_Real_MadridAnd it looked like the last day of school before summer camp for the Muppet Babies. All that’s missing from this picture is some yearbooks to sign: “LYLAS!” “See you next year when we’re big SENIORS!” “I won’t ever forget smoking pot with you behind the bleachers when Mr. Mourinho wasn’t looking. LOL!”  ::hums Simple Minds::

Sigh. Academy players Fabinho, Omar and Llorente were involved in the session as well.

Due to injuries, international duty, and god knows what else, many of our regular starters are missing. Here are the call ups:

Goalkeepers: Adan and Jesus.
Defenders: Carvalho, Arbeloa, Albiol, Nacho, Fabinho and Llorente.
Midfielders: Ozil, Essien, Modric, Callejon, Di Maria and Omar.
Forwards: Benzema, Higuain and Morata.

It will be nice to see Adan (or possibly Jesus) play. I’m sure Antonio will be off for greener pastures, especially if we keep DLo. It just makes sense. The poor kid can’t get any playing time. I have no clue what’s going to be happening with the goalkeeper situation.

The players are off in concentracion now. I’m getting all misty looking at this shot of Albiolita because the rumbles that Pipita will be signing to Juventus grow louder every day.

Students from Real Madrid’s academy in China visited this week and met with first team players.

Visit by students from the Realmadrid Foundation’s academy in China

Sixteen students from the world’s largest football centre in Qingyuan are in Madrid, where they have met players from the first team squad, played a friendly and taken the Bernabeu Tour

Escuela_de_la_Fundaciýn_Realmadrid_en_China (1)A group of 16 students from the world’s largest football technical college, run by the Realmadrid Foundation in Qingyuan (China), are visiting the Spanish capital for two weeks. So far, they have taken part in several training sessions, played a match with a team from the academy at Real Madrid’s Football City, taken the Bernabeu Tour where they were met by Emilio Butragueno and today they met some of the first team players. The children were accompanied by Liu Jiangnan, Evergrande FC president and vice president of the Evergrande Group, the local partner that has made possible the creation of the sports complex has more than 1,000 children in primary and secondary school students.

Escuela_de_la_Fundaciýn_Realmadrid_en_China (2)The academy’s students highlighted the growth of football in China: “Little by little Chinese players are starting to play in Europe and all we are passionate about football. Our dream is to be Real Madrid’s first Chinese players. It was great to meet our idols and we love Kaka”.

Escuela_de_la_Fundaciýn_Realmadrid_en_China (10)The technical college in China was officially opened in October 2012 and is located in a school built by the Evergrande Group, in which primary and secondary education is taught. At present it has 27 football fields and next season that will become 76. The aim is for 10,000 young people receive training in these facilities each year.

Michael Essien shared some of his thoughts about his time on loan to Real Madrid.

Here’s an English language report on the kit unveiling yesterday.

And some behind the scenes action…

Jose’s goodbye message was just posted a few minutes ago on the mothership. WAH!

Entrevista_a_MourinhoFROM REALMADRID.COM

Jose Mourinho: “From the heart, Hala Madrid!”

“I wish everyone associated with Real Madrid much happiness in the future. I appreciate the support of lots of fans and respect the criticism of others. Once again, a lot of happiness to everyone and, above all, good health. Hala Madrid!”

::sniffle:: More news to report later. I need to compose myself a bit. I’m going to miss him, even with all the drama.

So, are you happy to see the end of The Little Season That Wasn’t? I’m bummed that we’re ending with Osasuna and their douchetastic fans, but at least the game is at the Bernabeu. I’d rather it ended with a bang, not a whimper so let’s hope we get a good game no matter what.

UPDATED: Arbeloa posted this shot saying “The Last Supper” Way to make me lose it, dude.  😦 How many of those faces will be around our table next season?

I always thought the thing about journalists is that they are required to objectively present facts, then perhaps extrapolate that into thoughts and opinions based on logic, perception, experience. Turns out I don’t know shit and neither do most of the ‘press’ involved in this mess. Trust one thing tho? Tabloid journalists are full of shit

this season was like roller coaster, up, down and sometimes made me throw up. i will miss looking at Rui, he was pretty hot, and mous entertaining press conferences, but i guess we can always follow chelsea and see what is he up too there.
i am guessing there will be a but of an exodus with players but hope they will bring some new perky bums to watch, with long hair for headbands!!

Okay, what’s up with the call-ups? I’m pretty bummed. I was hoping for the end-of-an-era-game to include all our players with a big celebratory goodbye to Mou or something. A little toss in the air? We don’t get to see the goodbyes or thank yous? Am I asking of too much?

    • jellyace June 1, 2013 at 1:11 am #

Since there is nothing to be gained if the team wins or loses, the coaches are giving playing time to the other players so they can get a cap with the first team. It’s a good thing.

    • la-la June 1, 2013 at 5:16 am #

      That would have been awesome!

I’m both ready for this season to be over and sad that it’s ending tomorrow. Even though at this point I think Mou leaving is the right thing for the club and for him, I’m still sad to see him go. I’m wish things had gone better, that he could have gone out on a high note instead of with all the discontent. And now I’m starting to get nervous about transfers. Real real nervous.

  7. Maripili June 1, 2013 at 12:04 am #

I for one will not miss all the commotion this season has brought. Towards the end it seemed Sergio was the one trying to boost morale and keeping the team together. I think next season just might be much better.

  8. jellyace June 1, 2013 at 1:15 am #

Adios, Mou. It’s been a special time with the Special One.

P.S. Simple Minds: Don’t You Forget About Me — iconic 80s so just right for Mou!

I don’t know if I should write it here, but this is also about an end – Una wrote yesterday that she stops making “following real madrid” 😦

    • headbandsandheartbreak June 1, 2013 at 10:54 am #

Great blog but I’d be more upset if she hadn’t already “stopped” more than once. I’m sure she’ll be back.

  10. Ola June 1, 2013 at 11:17 am #

Oh I didn’t know… That’s good she always came back 🙂 and may I add I would never want you girls to plan something like “stopping”. I think I am seriously addicted to your blog …

    • headbandsandheartbreak June 1, 2013 at 11:52 am #

Aw, thank you. That’s very sweet of you. When we do decide to call it quits (hopefully somewhere very far down the line) we’ll have a big party or something. 🙂

  11. Ola June 1, 2013 at 12:19 pm #

That not happens very often, but I am not really looking forward to the party.. Unless when we all are that old we will be forgetting sergio’s strange outfit number 25278352 and names of iker’s grandchildren 🙂
