Chattin’ It Up With La Roja and The Boys Take To The NYC Streets

10 Jun

As you know, La Roja arrived in New York, yesterday evening and getting off the plane was probably the most peaceful moment they’ve had so far! They had the morning off to sight-see and shop, but they couldn’t do so without being ambushed by fans & media, as they left their hotel.

Poor guys, you can see in their faces that they are so not having it in these pics. If only all fans could understand that there is a time and place for approaching players for pictures & autographs…when they’re leaving their hotel on a morning off, it’s clearly not the time.

Even Santi looks like he had to escape down a dark, damp, alley and he’s still being followed!

It has to be mentioned, it seems Mr. Villa was so impressed with his outfit, that he tweeted a shot of himself from this morning. No doubt, he would’ve put himself on the Best Dressed list. Aside from the fact that murses are a no no, did he borrow this one from his daughters? A murse under the armpit, somehow makes it worse. I can’t believe I’m saying this….but, at least Iker knows how to wear his murse.

Finally, once the boys made their way out of the crowds, they were able to pose for pics they actually wanted to take and we got to see some smiles.

Seriously, Sergio & Nando? You couldn’t even shop together? Pick out new sister wives’ bands? I’m starting to take this personally, ya big jerks.

These two have the bond that Sernando should have, they’re not afraid to be seen together! Cesc & Pique decided to shop for their bebes together. Both have their phones out, so I’m assuming they did some checking in with their respective ladies before making any crazy purchases. Speaking of bebes, Pique posted this shot of his bebe self with László Kubala, who would’ve been 85 today. Look at all those blue eyes!

After a rainy morning out, so began the pressers. VdB was up first.

On the Confederations Cup – “We come to try to win, we have six very powerful opponents,  but world champions countries, emerging powers and in so short a tournament anyone can win. Playing the final in Brazil, with the path that we are on, of course it would be nice, but step by step, go slowly and see what will happen with qualifying in there, I say, very strong teams.”

On the level of his players – “The three goalkeepers are very well, I find. Tomorrow, in our desire to play all, I’ll play Victor. In the front the other day, I played two and tomorrow will play Villa, and we insisted that we try  all players. The final decision, we will make later.”

On the heat condition in Miami & Brazil – “It is a course handicap. Against Haiti the other day we saw it, but I don’t think it is crucial, I’m not worried about it.”

On the status of being favorites – “It is very difficult to get to the top and even harder to stay there, the rivals are very motivated t0 win and that makes it more difficult, but our motivation is also high.”

On their first Confederations Cup opponents – “We know Uruguay very well. When we played them in Qatar they beat us because they have top quality players, worldwide, players like Luis Suarez and Cavani are known.”

On being favorites – “We are not about numbers, we come to win tournaments, we know we have good team and we have options, but always with our feet on the ground, the atmosphere is great, and that is the key to our successes.”

On being in New York – “It’s a city that is always special, we love coming here and although football is not widespread, we like to come to promote it. Playing at Yankee Stadium is an honor.”

On the friendly vs Ireland – “Tomorrow we will try to maintain our way, we have to feel good, to recover sensations. Ireland is a good team, with the likes of Robbie Keane, we’ll try to do well. ”

The team trained at 7:30 this evening, pictures to follow soon.

Please if anyone has any pull, please go get Sergio and take him shopping! Anyone is better than him!! And as for David Villa, he just needs to have the (lost my word sorry) longer so the “purse” would fall around his stomach…

The “strap” – Yeah it would be much better if it was longer.

I like the way Sergio dresses because it is so him. But I’d still like to have that job! Running around with him, going into expensive stores, helping him try clothes on, helping him take them off…

I would love helping Sergio take his clothes off…

I don’t think I could be famous. My personal space bubble is really big and in almost every picture someone would be in the bubble without my permission. I’m feeling violated just looking at the pictures and thats not even happening to me. People just need to respect other peoples space!!!!!

I know! I was telling Maisougio how bad I felt for Xavi. XAVI! Look at that dude chasing him and putting his arm around him! It’s upsetting to me. Just because he’s a famous person doesn’t mean that he gave up all his rights. *ASK* if you can have a picture, autograph, etc. Don’t just take it because you think it’s your right. Pique looks pretty pissed off as well. Poor guys.

Yes! I thought that was so rude, and it was clear Xavi just wanted to get away.

OMG. What happened to New Yorkers being nonchalant about meeting famous people? So many of them have completely lost their shit, and I feel really bad for those boys. I’m not saying everyone who went to see them was like that of course, but a few of those pics are disturbing. Poor Santi is being stalked down an alley FFS!

And I just had a delicious thought. I can’t wait until Xavi steps on the Yankee Stadium pitch tomorrow. Knowing how particular he is, that field will surely not meet his standards.

My guess is that they’re out of towners. Can’t imagine most NYers acting like that.

I was thinking the exact same thing. (New Yorkers like their space.) Their hotel is in a very touristy area.

When they were down here in Miami, security had to tell people ‘no touching’. Why don’t you just ask for a kidney…..

I spent many minutes this morning contemplating how low Villa’s pants were. The murse did not enter into these thoughts.

I read this comment and had to go contemplate this, too. I approve.

Thanks so much for these! Aw, bless Juanin and Nando. They look like two clean cut lads from the UK on holiday. As for Villa, despite the Gucci bag, I think he looks pretty hot (he seems to think so, too, from that stance). I’m more shocked by Silva’s very strange t-shirt. Is that a smoking woman in acid wash shorts holding a jug of whiskey?

Here’s hoping for clear skies for tonight’s game for the boys and for us fans. I feel terrible for the rain. I really want them to enjoy NYC. Hopefully there will be a little sun today and certainly tomorrow (if they aren’t rushed onto a plane).

usually nando dresses *slightly* off but juan has been a good influence on him! i like to see that.

hoping for good weather so y’all can enjoy the game!
