La Roja in Brazil

It’s rainy everywhere La Roja go! It was really coming down when they arrived in Brazil, yesterday, but rain means good luck doesn’t it? Or is that only on your wedding day?….

After a nine hour flight, the boys made it to Recife, where the countdown to the Confederations Cup begins! They’ll be staying at the Golden Tulip Hotel de Recife.

Today they had their tournament photos taken, which seemed awkward for everyone but Pepe Reina, the man loves the camera and we love seeing him act all goofy.

Here are a few snapshots from the boys’ twitter pages.

Now, I have to point out the differences in photo capturing styles from player to player. Above, is a photo of David Villa’s, the next two are Juan Mata’s. Whose do you think has the better style? Easy winner is Sexy Care Bear, for me. Come on now David, at least throw a filter on the damn thing and photography 1o1 teaches you to NEVER weigh down your corners…that top corner is a mess bubba. I think we’ve found a new category for the Tishies next year, Best use of filters/Best Landscape Scenes.

Oh, and the next shot is Sergio’s, obviously. *Sigh* Camaron & MJ…I hope he doesn’t try to moonwalk in his new boots, the big dork.

The first presser in Brazil was held today & it featured Jesus Navas & Roberto Soldado.

Navas:

On the weather because that’s the most important question to ask – “We do not fear the rain, on the contrary, the field gets faster and it can benefit us. We’re used to playing in different types of climates, we do not care.”

On the importance of the tournament – “For us it is an important tournament, for us to come and especially because it is the only cup that we need.”

Soldado:

On their arrival in Brazil – “The reception has been nice, it has been special, we wanted to come and we want to enjoy playing football and for people to enjoy with us.”

“Uruguay is very strong, it will be a difficult start, the group’s tough to start, but we trust that we have been well and hopefully we can make it a good game.”

“I work every day to be the Spain’s number 9, but we have seen that the selection works one way or another, with 9 or not, the coach is the one who decides, we respect that and try to work out for everyone.”

“For the tournament to be here certainly motivates Brazil, but here are people who have won everything and lack this, personally, I’ve never been in official tournament with the national team, so imagine that I have the desire, and the motivation I bring.”

The internet was light on photos for La Roja’s first training in Brazil, hopefully more pops up tomorrow, when the team will be at it again. It looks like Nando got a serious talking to today, I hope VdB was stern with him & educated him on the importance of providing us with HOT SERNANDO ACTION!!! Some lessons just need to be re-learned. 😉

With all this rain, these boys may never come back to this hemisphere~

  2. Phédre June 13, 2013 at 11:56 pm #

They did it again with that last pic! Sergio Torres …
I wonder if VdB is lecturing Nando about their behavior in NY? Naughty boys! 😉

WHAT HAPPENED IN NY – SERIOUSLY, THIS IS KILLING ME!!!

      • Rose June 14, 2013 at 8:41 am #

If you want to step into the madness check under the Fernando Torres and Sergio Ramos tags on Tumblr. Prepare to be horrified and entertained. Hb&Hb is a clean zone for this one. Trust me, it’s a good thing.

Dude, remember I live in NYC. I’m just waking up! ;- If they hooked up with each other and there was evidence, I’d be shouting from the roof tops and calling for a global holiday! It was the usual ‘leaving the club with chicks” crap. I don’t want to deal with the “He would never Cheat!!!1!!” pearl clutching brigade vs. The Cynical Sallies (“Bish plz, that’s ALL they do.”) 😉 That drama is playing out everywhere and I want one place of (relative) sanity.

Ive never really checked out tumblr. All i need to know about that site is that my 15 yo niece practically lives there. So I’ll arm myself with a pulse rifle* and wander cautiously over there…

I didn’t mean to sound cynical either, I genuinely belive its none of my beeswax what other people get up to, its just that at my age nothing really surprises me

          😉

“The rain that brings you here is heaven blessed!”…………I said that out loud didn’t I? Don’t mind me.

But why “shrimp” on. Sergio’s boots?? His new nickname?

    • maisoun June 14, 2013 at 9:06 am #

I believe his tribute to Camaron is for the singer….or maybe for both his love of flamenco & seafood 😛

      • Anna June 14, 2013 at 9:14 am #

Yes! After I searched on Internet and I found out that Camaron is one of his favourite flamenco’s singer. Thanks

Pouquoi the random shout out to MJ though?! Oh Sergio I do love you

          • headbandsandheartbreak June 14, 2013 at 1:30 pm #

Oh, he LOVES Michael Jackson. One of his idols. He even laid down on the sidewalk next to his star on Hollywood Boulevard for a picture.

This is why I don’t like to google people. Why learn every crazy idioscyncracy and foible all at once when you can let them jump out at you one by one when you least expect it.

              • jellyace June 14, 2013 at 2:10 pm #

Sergio needs to get his own people so he can put their names on his boots!

                • Anna June 14, 2013 at 2:16 pm #

I agree totally with youI lovethathe loves flamencoandMj both. He is open to anykind of music: really positive

Ok it might be because my feet are tiny but sergio’s shoes seem HUGE to me, what size are they? Like 43 or something….

    • Dr Heidi June 14, 2013 at 10:56 am #

you know what they say about men with big feet *smirking* Like I didn’t already envision that in my head….
I had to laugh when I saw all these Sergioisms on his boots….you know you’re a big time sports star when the manufacturer will embroider anything you want on your boots! Surprised there’s no ‘nando’, or a shout out to his faves, LV or DSquared…..*smile*

      • jellyace June 14, 2013 at 2:12 pm #

Men with big feet…have big shoes!

        • headbandsandheartbreak June 14, 2013 at 2:15 pm #

Reminds me of Jambi on Pee Wee’s Playhouse ““You know what they say, big feet . . . big boots! “

        • la-la June 14, 2013 at 5:23 pm #

Really? I thought it meant they had big hands…

          • jellyace June 15, 2013 at 1:27 am #

I think I was quoting Julia Roberts in Iker’s favorite movie, Notting Hill.

      • Katie Ann June 14, 2013 at 9:49 pm #

They’ll actually embroider anything you want whether you’re a big time sports star or not. A bunch of the kids up here have stuff written on various types of athletic footwear, just had to shell out the money for it.

Me, I just used a sharpie to write my initials on my track spikes back in the day… Maybe Sergio and Nando will have a fanboy moment and sharpie each other’s boots sometime…

there def should be a category for best photography, originality of photo, subject in the photo and such. I am sure Mata will rock all of them. Any why does sese has boots with MJ on them??? am i missing smth?

    • headbandsandheartbreak June 14, 2013 at 4:31 pm #

He’s a huge Michael Jackson fan. Also one of flamenco singer Camaron. We were discussing this in the comments of the other post.

    • jellyace June 15, 2013 at 1:29 am #

Juan Mata really does have a good eye for photography.

  7. gillyrosh June 14, 2013 at 8:29 pm #

Navas has those eyes that hypnotize.
