Thursday Training, Rise Of The Muppet Babies

18 Jul

Entrenamiento_del_Real_Madrid (1)Oh man, sorry for the late update today. Work was nuts and then I had to race right out. I’m heading off for an out of town wedding tomorrow – it’s a big three day affair chock full of activities. Ladies, I have to ask – has there every been a manicure that *didn’t* get smudged, dinged or ruined within minutes of being done? Ugh. I’m going to have to spend an inordinate time repairing this mess. Anyhow, I’ll be popping in and out all weekend, but posts may be a bit light.

Xabi & The Baby joined training for the warm ups before returning to the gym. The team had two sessions  today.

The mothership noted that our team’s getting younger. “The first team’s four newest players have an average age of 21.5 Illarramendi is 23, while Carvajal, Isco and Casemiro are 21.”  So it was fitting that the King of the Muppet Babies gave the presser.

Morata: “Ancelotti wants us to play very fast and to look after the ball”

“This is Real Madrid and the best will always come here. I’m going to work hard, learn from my teammates and fight to play”, said the ex-academy player in press room

Rueda_de_prensa_de_Morata (7)Alvaro Morata spoke with media in the press room at Real Madrid’s Football City. The ex-academy player, who is playing his second season in the first team, spoke about the opening training sessions of the preseason: “I’m training me well, working as if every day were the last and I want to stay at Real Madrid. Everybody’s level has surprised me, the ball is flying around and that is good for everyone. Hopefully we’ll have a good season”. About Ancelotti’s way of working, he said: “To take good care of the ball, play very fast and try to create our own style of playing”.

Rueda_de_prensa_de_Morata (1)Real Madrid will play their preseason opener this Sunday in a friendly against Bournemouth. Morata feels ambitious and is looking forward to the new campaign. When asked whether he thought that it was more important to score more goals or play more, he was clear: “The two things are important and if you have more time on the pitch, you have the opportunity to score more goals”. About Xabi Alonso, who trained with the group in the first part of the session, he said: “He seems well, wants to get back out on the field, giving a lot of advice as always and is eager to play again”.

Rueda_de_prensa_de_Morata (6)Morata was the top scorer in the recent European Under-21 Championship that Spain won. “I didn’t get much of a holiday but it was to play in the Europeans. I really want to start playing and to be together on the field, which is the most important thing”, said the ex-academy player, who responded to the question as to whether he could get himself into the full Spain squad for the World Cup by saying:” First I have to play, do things well and there are a lot of forwards who can get into the national team. If I do things well then, why not? But you have to go step by step”.

Rueda_de_prensa_de_MorataAbout the great form that Cristiano Ronaldo has come back in, he said: “I am fan of his and I don’t envisage a Real Madrid without him. He is the best player in the world and has to play in the best team in the world”. He also praised the quality of the four new signings made by the club: “They’ve gone for Spanish players. Dani (Carvajal) has come back home, and with those players who are here like Cristiano, Pepe, Ozil … we have a very good squad. There are a lot of young players who can play at a high level and create a great group”.

Rueda_de_prensa_de_Morata (2)The Whites’ forward spoke about rumours of possible additions up front: “I think that everyone being spoken about are the best in the world and it is normal. The best players will always be linked with the best team. I’ll keep fighting whoever comes, this is Real Madrid and the best will always come here. I am going to work hard, learn from my teammates and fight to play”.

Rueda_de_prensa_de_Morata (5)When asked about the opportunities in attack and the possible departure of one of his teammates, he said: “That is up to the club. Higuain is the same as ever; enthusiastic and as excited as usual. We’re training well and if that happens, we’ll see how we react. When Jese comes he will train just as well. We are first team players and we will fight to play just like any other player”. He also denied having received any offers: “I haven’t had to reject any because I haven’t received any. I’m focused on working hard and training with Real Madrid and I am looking forward to the first match”.

Rueda_de_prensa_de_Morata (3)About being in the same squad as Spain Under-21 teammates Isco, Illarramendi and Carvajal, Morata said: “I am very happy because, not only are we teammates, but when we had free time we were together. It is a pleasure because we are teammates and friends. I’ll try to be there for whatever they need”. Morata was asked about the former coaching staff and did not want to make comparisons: “Making comparisons is not polite. I have a lot of time for the former coach. Ancelotti has come here eager and enthusiastic and everything that he can contribute is positive“.

Rueda_de_prensa_de_Morata (4)Our little boy is growing up! So poised. Remember when he looked like this? It was only a couple of years ago.

I usually just wear clear polish on my nails but I always have a pedi. If I didn’t have to go to this fancy wedding, I wouldn’t have done it. Already regretting it but I guess I can take it off after the weekend.

Have you tried Shellac? They seal it on with a uv lamp and it literally lasts 2 weeks…

RE: the manicure, i usually throw on a top coat at home, if i just left on the stuff they use, it would chip in minutes.

if morata couldn’t convince thiago to come to RM, at least he kept him from staying at barca or going to man u. he really is the king of the babies.
