Animo Tito Vilanova

19 Jul

Sadly, it was revealed today that Tito Vilanova has resigned from his coaching duties, due to a recurrence of throat cancer. As you may remember, Tito took a couple of months off last season, to get treatment after a relapse, so it is very saddening to hear that he is sick once again. We wish him and his family all the best and hope he kicks cancer’s ass once and for all. It feels wrong to speak of his replacement at the same time as his resignation, given the circumstances, but a club is a business that must keep running & these are the details they chose to share – assistant coach Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia, ‘Rubi’, will temporarily assume Tito’s duties and a new manager will be announced next week.

Animo Tito!

I would like to say thank you on behalf of us cules/bi-teamuals. Real Madrid & Barca are so inextricably linked, it’s lovely when we can all get along. Thank you, Maisougio. It’s been a difficult summer for us, losing Villa, Thiago & now Tito. 😦

No need to thank me! How unfortunate would it be if we couldn’t set aside team rivalries at times like this, when we need each other’s support? That’s how we do at HB&HB

It’s so terrible,I hope he will get better soon…And I totally agree with all what Allison said, thank you Maisougio! I have to admit I was afraid that Puyi will end his career soon because of his injuries, and I thought this will be the saddest thing, but Tito’s illness proved me wrong…

Don’t even talk about losing Puyi! I know it’s coming, but 😥

I’m sorry… It’s just all so sad.. Ps I know it’s not that important as Tito’s cancer, but lot of people here were looking forward to the today friendly match ,and now it’s postponed…

I wonder if they’ll cancel Wednesday’s match against Pep & Bayern. We need to be at our best for that!

Exactly, I hope we will be at our best as soon as is possible in such a difficult situation! But if they cancel it, it will at least shut up people who say that Barcelona showed lack of respect for polish club and fans by canceling today’s match…

These are some very unwelcome news. I just hope he’ll get better pretty soon and get rid of cancer once and for all. All my thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family. Animo!

Devastating news 😦 but this just shows that at times like this, football becomes a unifying factor, where we can all keep Tito in our thoughts and prayers and propel him towards a speedy, and full, recovery!

In the past few days there was this smack talk going back and forth with Pep claiming Rosell was using Tito’s illness against him, and Tito stating that in the few months he was in NY for treatment, Pep visited him only twice. Not sure I understood all the rancor but I gathered that Pep left because of Rosell.

Then Tito makes this announcement, so it just makes me wonder. It’s a tricky time for Barcelona.

I wish Tito all the courage he will need for this battle with cancer and that he and his family can weather all the struggles of dealing with cancer. Animo, Tito!
