Saturday Training, Pirata, The Napoli Boys & Xabi

24 Aug

Entrenamiento_del_Real_MadridGood news – Illara is improving and joined the team for training today. The Baby, Xabi, Sami and Denis worked on their recoveries. I hate to see so many crucial players injured, damn it. Monday’s match is away at Granada.

Checking in with our far away but not forgotten boys, Pirata played a full 90 in Sociedad’s 1-1 tie with Elche.

p1 p2 p3So good to see him on the pitch kicking ass, isn’t it? Pipa, Calleti, Albiol & Pepe Reina kick off their Serie A season tomorrow when  Napoli takes on Bologna.  Sky Sports had a little story on him yesterday. It made me sad to read. Then I thought about the fact that Napoli has cheerleaders and it amused me to think of all the “Hola Bonita” action he could get himself up to. I know that having the ladies cheering is more of an American concept and it kinda shows. No offense to the Napoli cheerleaders, but they’re going to need to work on that choreography and synchronization.  As a country that was raised on stuff like the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, we ‘Muricans have a rather, um, discerning eye for these things (that Rockettes-style kick into a drop split in perfect unison? Damn! and Ouch!) But hey, I’m sure over time they’ll develop their own Napoli sassy style. Pipa’s gonna have a field day, isn’t he?

Oh and because I’m missing the hell out of Pipita, here he is with an underpants clad Jerzy Dudek, who is in a kiddie pool. Yeah, I don’t know. Just go with it.

tumblr_mr3otm3BPr1rvmrouo1_500So the other day, I totes forgot to post Xabi’s picture of his feet (of course) on the way to his surgery. I had about 2 minutes to post about his surgery and then zoom off to a meeting.

BSQ8Z4xIEAAnHukHe also posted one of my fave Monty Python moments which proves he’s just as warped as I thought he was. I am delighted.  I always hum that when I’m having a shit day too, Xabi.

MGEF posted an update on his injury and a photo with his doctors:

AS reports that an osteosynthesis is a minimally invasive procedure that takes about 30 minutes. A titanium nail was placed at the fractured bone and barring any complications, will stay there permanently. Alonso had a similar injury in 2001, where Del Prado was one of the doctors involved in the operation. Alonso could begin pool work in 10 days and running in 45 to 60. If everything goes well, Dr. Ripoll forsees Xabi’s return near October 17-24.

tumblr_ms1u0bVGUF1qbiysso1_500Sounds promising. I just can’t wait until he’s back. We also need The Baby.  I feel that they’re both so important for us. The season has barely started and I’m already having palpitations!

Illarra!!!!! I love him. I don’t even know why exactly, but I do. Glad he’s improving. Speedy recoveries for everyone else!

It’s so nice to see Pirata getting his sassy Xabi on in Xabi’s original home

I’m glad Madrid doesn’t have cheerleaders I think sooooo many of our players would be distracted the whole game

I think we’ve finally found an imperfection in Mr. Perfect – That big toenail. But every work of art has to have one flaw. 😉

Seeing Pirata playing yesterday was glorious. Every time there was a close up on him I got so excited – though it’s a shame they only drew. And I haven’t checked the TV schedule yet but I hope the Napoli game will be showing. I miss our departed boys (and Pepe Reina, even though Mignolet is killing it!!)

Poor Xabi’s foot. I hope the doctor is right and he’ll be back sooner than the 3 months originally reported. Hopefully Illarra will be ready to play soon. The next few months might not be so stressful if our other Basque midfielder is out there.
