Gareth In Madrid

1 Sep

Gareth_BaleGareth arrived in Madrid and will be presented tomorrow at 1:00 PM CET in the Royal Box at the Santiago Bernabeu.  He will then take to the pitch and finally, have his first presser as a Real Madrid player.

We know quite a bit about Bale as a player, but what of his personal life? He’s in a long term relationship with his childhood sweetheart Emma Rhys Jones. They grew up together in Cardiff.

emma-rhys-jonesHis heart goal celebration is for her. They had their first child, daughter Alba Violet, on October 12, 2012. Here’s some pictures of her.

alba-balegareth-bale-baby-daughtertumblr_mm4hjdwZa11rweizno1_500So we have a new little family to follow now. They seem very sweet, don’t they? Best of luck on the move to them. I hope the press will let them settle in and not hound them too much. (A girl can dream, right?)

If that’s a soul patch then he’ll fit right in with his team mates, re: poor hair choices. He is usually treated very well in the press, this fiasco aside, because of his family first attitude. Let’s hope this continues and he follows the Xabi model!

Tho, have to say, I see him and think the villian from The Incredibles.

The Incredibles! That’s the one! I swore he looked like a character from a toon movie for ages but I couldn’t remember the name. Hopechaser, thank you for solving one of the many nagging questions in my mind. =)

Of the topic though… Let’s be real, he’s been getting a lot of attention and now he has become the sole focus of the Spanish press. I don’t know why they seem to have no boundaries when it comes to their materialized stories of our team and players. Maybe he can charm them enough that they leave him alone. Cross my fingers.

Lozil, any idea where to stream the unveiling / presser?

It’ll be live on the Realmadrid.com website (though I assume it will be in Spanish). It may (not 100% sure – think I read this somewhere but will need to double check) be on BeIn Sport.

          Thank You.
It was quite boring other than the bit where he tried his hand at some Spanish. Honestly I just couldn’t get myself excited because of all the ones we’ve lost. The worst part is I don’t know where to direct my anger so I’m just stuck being pitiful.

          • headbandsandheartbreak September 3, 2013 at 10:41 pm #

Kinda in the same boat. I’m just so sad and angry and sad and sad and sad. Did I mention sad? I hate change. 😦

If I’m this down, I can’t even imagine what this is doing to you. I guess we are just going to have to keep a close eye on the goods at Arsenal and Napoli this season.

Oooooooh! Rumors are now flying that our beloved Mesut wants out following this signing and being relegated to the bench. Arsenal, PSG, and now United all want a piece of that! It will be a sad day if they lose that kid…after all we lost over the summer, I am not sure I can take losing Mesut!

    • headbandsandheartbreak September 2, 2013 at 2:09 am #

Yeah, *rumors*, which have actually been around for at least a couple of weeks. It’s silly season. Everyone needs to calm down. He sat on the bench for one game. One. Game. People need to get a grip. I’m not feeding the hysteria here.

We’ll know tomorrow by this time what is going down, so I’m going to let everyone have their shriek fest on Tumblr, Twitter, LJ, etc. I just want it to be peaceful here. Not like we can do anything about it either way so I’m not going to waste my energy on it.

There’s a reason I don’t put stuff on the blog until its officially announced. 😉

PS We’ve been discussing this all night in the Gareth Bale It’s Official thread if you care to join us.

Awww… The little one is adorable! And I see she doesn’t have her father’s ears 😉

We have another Alba! She is as cute as a button!

  4. ayen September 2, 2013 at 5:18 am #

what a cute family…hope Bale can help Real Madrid win a trophy this season (Sergio’s etching to hold a trophy)

Out of curiosity: what’s to become of this site if Özil has indeed transferred to Arsenal?? No more headbands … but OH GOD definite heartbreak! You’re gonna have to do a full overhaul or something? 😦

    • Dr Heidi September 2, 2013 at 10:03 am #

I’m more concerned about my Sergio losing his little boo…..I guess in typical Sergio fashion, he’s going to turn up the charm and find another little muffin……*not seeing a RamBale bromance in the near future however*

      • MissLadya September 2, 2013 at 10:56 am #

And what of Samisut?! International duties are too few and far in between! And as the hours tick on I get more and more irritated. They’re throwing a fucking parade for Bale while they quietly ushered Kaka and (possibly) Ozil out the backdoor as if they were nobodies. Same went for Pipita, Morata and Albiol. The ONLY consolation I have now is that at least he’ll have Podolski and Mertesacker to help him acclimatize to London if he does indeed join Arsenal, but still … I just hate how unceremonious these departures are. Not that they’re worth celebrating, but to pretend they’re not happening while going “LOOK! IT’S BALE! YOU SEE HIM?? LOOKIE LOOKIE AT BALE! NO, NEVER MIND THOSE OTHER GUYS WHATSTHEIRFACES! WHO *CARES* ABOUT THEM ANYWAY?! LOOK HERE AT BALE!!”

        • headbandsandheartbreak September 2, 2013 at 11:14 am #

Wait?! WHAT? Where did Morata go while I was sleeping?! Do you mean Callejon?

Also, if you pay that much money for someone, you show him off. You can’t have a testimonial for every outgoing player on Transfer Deadline Day. It took 3 years to get a proper send off for Raul and he was a club legend. They will be feted by their new clubs (while others there are ushered out). Such is the way…

          • MissLadya September 2, 2013 at 11:18 am #

LOL I meant Callejon yet wrote Morata. Sorry about that. Funny thing is I read your comment and went, “OMIGAWD! Did they sell off Morata too?!?” before realizing *I* was the one who’d written that.

Showing off a new player is one thing. Pretending those departing never existed is another. Not one mention of them on Real’s website. Again, am not asking for a massive farewell bash at the Bernabeu, but at least SOME acknowledgement of their contribution would be nice.

            • headbandsandheartbreak September 2, 2013 at 11:32 am #

They’ll get the info up on the website – they always do. They’re just busy right now. It’s an incredibly hectic day.

    • headbandsandheartbreak September 2, 2013 at 11:11 am #

Nah. I think we’ll pretty much stick with how things are. Maisougio and I will probably pow wow about it, but I like how we are now. So have no fear, I’m not going to become Lisco or Lale any time soon. 😉

      • MissLadya September 2, 2013 at 11:21 am #

Meanwhile I’m going, “Hmmm, so what is this ‘Arsenal’ anyway? … Better start studying up on them. They’re in London, right?” Man, my knowledge of the EPL is dreadfully inadequate. Already got friends messaging me going, “Soooooo, I hear Özil’s leaving … HAH! Now you’re gonna HAVE to ‘give two shits about the EPL’.” DAMN IT. All these years swearing that that would be the LAST league I’d watch. Oh, Mesut, the things I will do for you …

        • headbandsandheartbreak September 2, 2013 at 11:26 am #

🙂 Yeah, North London team and one I’m very attached to in my commitment-phobic way. 😉 My fondest wish is that if he ends up there is that he bromance with my much adored Alex Oxlade Chamberlain. Oxzil would be ridiculously cute.

          • MissLadya September 2, 2013 at 11:37 am #

Provided Podolski will let anyone near Mesut. The Ox better make good use of Lukas’ injury and get some quality bonding time because once he returns I’m expecting Podozil to the max!

Incidentally, I can think of one other good thing about this potential transfer (I’m grasping straws here, so bear with me): Mesut will have to start speaking more English! YESSSS!!

I’m already having second hand embarrassment for the boy trying to speak Spanish. Let’s hope he hires a different tutor than the Germans.

I feel the same way about Bale to Madrid as I do about Neymar to Barca – at best I’m unmoved, at worst I’m annoyed. Why sign these big name, big money players when Barca and Real are already the best teams in the world? Why not cultivate an atmosphere of team building instead of cleaning house all the time? Maybe I’m still bitter about Villa leaving Barca and about Iker being benched but I just don’t care.

    • ayen September 3, 2013 at 11:35 am #

Iker being benched is what I’m fearing now. I don’t want him to suffer too the way Kaka did.
