Updated: I Hate Transfer Deadline Day

2 Sep

Transfer Deadline Day LogoI tried to stay in bed and offline for as long as humanly possible, but I have to put on my big girl panties and deal with it. It’s Transfer Deadline Day. That said, I’ve made lunch and dinner plans so I get a respite from staring at my screen and cursing.

Feel free to discuss the day’s inevitable fuckery in the comments section. I’ll update the post throughout the day with any official announcements after the jump.

In a move that will please both watishista Shigs & forzasusan for very different reasons, Kaka has returned to AC Milan. I’ll still post pictures of him time to time just to keep Shigs on her toes! Cristiano went to the airport to see him off, which is what one should do for their BFF. ::sniffle::

Antonio Adan is no longer a Real Madrid player. According to the mothership, his contract has been terminated. I know he was looking for a club at the beginning of the season. I certainly hope he finds one.

Denis Cheryshev has been loaned to Sevilla for the season.

Mesut arriving at Emirates. Certainly looks like him. Well, then.

Mesut has been de-registered by the LFP. Just a matter of time before announcements, it looks like.
More updates to come.

– Lozil

Any club is damn lucky to have Denis and Adan.

If we can get through today without any unpleasantness re: our fun sized German, I’ll feel a lot better.

    • Mehreh September 2, 2013 at 4:59 pm #

Sniffles. I do not like this even a little bit.

  2. Lici September 2, 2013 at 10:58 am #

I am distraught about the Özil rumours… He’s the reason I started following Real Madrid, he is a truly excellent player. I would have rather kept him than acquired Bale. Not happy.

    • headbandsandheartbreak September 2, 2013 at 11:44 am #

They don’t even play the same position. Not sure why they would have to make a choice, but I guess it has to do with how Ancelotti’s formations work out going forward. I think it’s a mistake. personally.

      • Luz September 2, 2013 at 11:49 am #

I’m very nervous for the Özil rumours, seems to be real…..rumour has it that the club wants him out – like Snejder and Robben.
Uncle Flo is making a HUGE mistake if he sells Özil. Appearently at Bale’s presentation the fans were chanting that Özil should stay

        #QuedateÖzil 😦

        • Luz September 2, 2013 at 11:50 am #

By the way …..I hope I’m wrong!

          • Lici September 2, 2013 at 3:06 pm #

The story is that Perez asked Ancelotti whether he preferred Özil or DiMaria and Ancelotti said DiMaria, so Özil is out. I refuse to give up hope until its official.

    • JK September 2, 2013 at 12:12 pm #

He’s also the reason I started following Real Madrid! Ozil & Ramos are the heart of my obsession and I cannot begin to describe how upset this made me this morning. I think it’s such a mistake to sell him, he’s one of the most creative and talented young players out on the market. Forget Bale, I want Little Avatar Eyes to stay!

  3. MissLadya September 2, 2013 at 11:50 am #

Podolski retweeted Mesut’s medical … Someone just come out and make it official already and put me out of my misery! 😥

    • Mehreh September 2, 2013 at 12:03 pm #

jeez louise! between that and hearing cris went to the airport to say goodbye to kaka, this is just entirely too emotional.

      • ayen September 2, 2013 at 2:45 pm #

He did?!?can’t blame him though. I will miss their funny goal celebration.

      • Anna September 2, 2013 at 2:55 pm #

        i didn’t know this!!! heart-breaking 😥

  4. Laura Witrak September 2, 2013 at 11:56 am #

Is Mesut still at RM? I read he may be going to Arsenal??? I have not read the other replies (am on my iPhone) so I don’t know if this comment is redundant. I feel like the team is breaking up!

    • MissLadya September 2, 2013 at 12:03 pm #

Nothing official yet, but supposedly he’s had his medical in Germany for Arsenal and Podolski retweeted it on his official Twitter page. It’s looking like it’s actually going to go through. Too many mixed emotions right now to know whether I want it to happen or not …

  5. Nalicia September 2, 2013 at 12:06 pm #

I’m really happy for my kaka! He looked genuinly happy when holding up the acmilan shirt! I wish him all the best!

    • ayen September 2, 2013 at 2:52 pm #

I can only agree. Just looking at his smile makes me go awww. He really is happy plus the fans welcoming him are awesome.

  6. Nalicia September 2, 2013 at 12:12 pm #

Ps: if they let Ozil go, they’re not in their right minds!! I hope it is just another rumor. God please let this day go by quickly!

  7. absolutelyatx September 2, 2013 at 12:49 pm #

Ozil is also the reason I started following Real Madrid. This is the first time transfer deadline day drama has really affected me. So, so conflicted.

  8. Ula R. (@blue_eyed188) September 2, 2013 at 12:59 pm #

I will authentically cry if we loose Mesut… I’ve read (i hope it’s a rumor, but still…) that number 10 shirts are no longer available in RM shop 😦 This waiting is killing me! Are they insane to come up with this idea??

    • CinematiqueChic September 2, 2013 at 2:49 pm #

Ozil shirts are still available online but that doesn’t mean anything. Last summer I bought a Granero after it was officially announced that he’d been sold.

  9. Bex September 2, 2013 at 1:39 pm #

I’m in Italy right now, and they’re reporting that Ozil to Arsenal is a done deal, for €47M 😦

    • Nalicia September 2, 2013 at 2:01 pm #

OMG… It’s like we only recognize quality players outside of our team! If this is true, I wanna know who the moron is that decided that ozil has 2 go or if he made the decision himself what made him feel he has 2 leave!

    • headbandsandheartbreak September 2, 2013 at 3:31 pm #

Yeah, I’ve been seeing that too, but won’t post anything until it’s truly official.

  10. b20 September 2, 2013 at 2:05 pm #

I will seriously punch.someone in the face if Özil leaves. I hate transfer deadlines.

In other news, did anyone.else watch Gareth Bale trying to speak Spanish during his presentation? SO CUTE!!!

    • Anna September 2, 2013 at 2:58 pm #

yes! everyone on sky sports was saying how nervous he seemed as well, bless him! think i’m developing a bit of a soft spot for him, he obviously really wants to be at our club, he also said he would have come for a penny!

  11. Ula R. (@blue_eyed188) September 2, 2013 at 2:14 pm #

I still hope Ozil won’t have to wear that shirt http://www.realmadrid.pl/fotki/_up/25439/ozil_2.png

  12. Anonymous September 2, 2013 at 2:50 pm #

Glad to help a fellow watishista out! Love ya Shigs! 😉

    • Forzasusan September 2, 2013 at 2:51 pm #

      Sorry I’m not Anonymous — it’s forzasusan

  13. Cjl September 2, 2013 at 2:54 pm #

And Ozil to arsenal!!! Will be excited to watch him in the epl for sure ;D
How do you guys think cristiano will feel about bale?! I don’t think he’ll be too pleased….
    But I’ll miss Kaka 😥

    • Anna September 2, 2013 at 3:00 pm #

I can’t see Cris being dropped to the bench ever, so I don’t see there being much of a problem between the two, let’s hope they form a great partnership!

      • ayen September 2, 2013 at 9:52 pm #

I will miss Kaka too. Serie A isn’t shown in our country. I’m looking forward to the Barca vs Milan CL clash.

  14. Cindy September 2, 2013 at 3:00 pm #

FU&K YOU PEREZ IF OZIL LEAVES. I HOPE YOUR BRAND NEW TOY FLOPS.

    • mygypsyspirit September 2, 2013 at 3:56 pm #

Obviously not a fan of the team if you’re wishing for one of our players to flop. I’m a little disappointed in this comment, to be honest.

  15. Miss_F September 2, 2013 at 3:22 pm #

I stopped watching Real when Raul left and only came back for Ozil… Really hope he doesn’t go! That said, it’ll be great to watch him in England if he does go to Arsenal… Live and in the flesh!!

    • headbandsandheartbreak September 2, 2013 at 4:03 pm #

Wait, Raul left RM on July 26, 2010 and Mesut arrived on August 17, 2010. Did you just stop watching for the pre-season?!

      • Miss_F September 2, 2013 at 4:22 pm #

Haha! I stopped watching in anger (because they obviously care so much!) But then Ozil was brought in so didn’t leave for long!

  16. Ira September 2, 2013 at 3:57 pm #

Unfortunately Ozil to Arsenal looks like it’s happening. For Mesut’s sake, I am going to hope and pray that Arsenal starts winning trophies [I am not an Arsenal supporter since I don’t really have an PL team]. Mesut is brilliant enough succeed in any team. I pissed off that Perez would be dumb enough to get rid of him.

    • Ira September 2, 2013 at 3:57 pm #

      *I am pissed off

  17. Natalie September 2, 2013 at 3:58 pm #

Adan was bound to leave but it sucks that he is without a club. Hope kaka will get more time in Italy though cris will miss him. And Ozil should stay put. If he is in his right mind then he won’t leave for a club that have not won anything in last years and I do not see them winning in next few years either!

  18. mygypsyspirit September 2, 2013 at 4:04 pm #

FFS stop blaming Bale for Ozil’s departure. They don’t play the same position! I don’t blame Ozil for Kaka’s departure and they play the same fucking position! You all fucking love Isco… Guess what! ISCO is the one taking Mesut’s place on the pitch. Central attacking midfielder, preferrably roaming. ISCO walked into our squad and went “HERE THE FUCK I AM!”
No one blamed Alonso for the departure of Granero. No one thought to blame Khedira for the departure of Granero either.
I don’t want to lose Mesut either, but frankly I’d rather have his talent on display at a place like Arsenal than riding the bench at Real Madrid. Mesut can play on the wing but he’s very apparently not comfortable there. Di Maria has been way more effective when on the wing. So as a fan of Mesut, instead of flipping your shit over him being let go by Real Madrid (if this is completed) so that he can excel in the year leading up to World Cup, be happy he’s going somewhere that he’s going to get some playing time.

    • Laura Witrak September 2, 2013 at 4:27 pm #

      Exactly. Thank you.

    • Miss_F September 2, 2013 at 4:30 pm #

Well said chick. He definitely wants playing time, and he plays so well with his national team… So if he moves to Arsenal and gets playing time, he’ll be even more awesome during the World Cup. Also Giroud seems to have settled in (at Arsenal), and I think they’ll play well together.

    • Mehreh September 2, 2013 at 4:35 pm #

I am in agreeance with all this. Well put, lady!

    • mygypsyspirit September 2, 2013 at 4:36 pm #

Don’t take that as me hating on Isco, by the way. I am completely sold on Isco. I love him too.

    • Laura Witrak September 2, 2013 at 5:27 pm #

I think that as much as people love their respective teams and players, we need to remember just how volatile professional sports can be in terms of trades, changing tactics, changing squads, new/old coaches/coaching, etc. Top priority for every player: they need to be vigilant in taking care of their business. I wish all departing and incoming players success and good health. It will be fun to watch Mesut and Kaka in their new environments and hopefully they will be welcomed with open arms

Perhaps Mesut leaving is a ploy by Sese to spread his fashion sense across the continent since Mesut has been seemingly copying La Ramos. 😉

    • drea September 2, 2013 at 6:14 pm #

      Amen.

I think that when people treat their favorite athletes like the stars of their own personal soap opera (or fan fic, hehe), there must always be a villain. I really don’t understand how it ended up being Bale in this case. Just because of a coincidence of timing? So if Bale had been unveiled last week, we wouldn’t have all this rage against him? How dumb.

  19. Anna September 2, 2013 at 4:06 pm #

anyone else seeing news that Zidane is putting his foot down on the Ozil deal – apparently he’s trying to stop it?!

    • headbandsandheartbreak September 2, 2013 at 4:10 pm #

Yes. I just think we all need to sit back, take a chill pill and see what happens.

      • Ula R. (@blue_eyed188) September 2, 2013 at 4:16 pm #

Does someone watch skysports? Apparently they’ve seen Mesut on his way to Emirates Stadium…

        • headbandsandheartbreak September 2, 2013 at 4:24 pm #

Well, he was in Germany working on a national team commercial which is supposedly why he had the medical there, but it’s a short flight so who knows?

      • Anna September 2, 2013 at 4:29 pm #

Aghh I really need to! I always seem to end up glued to sky sports news on this day even though I promise myself I’ll stay away.

  20. Cjl September 2, 2013 at 4:36 pm #

Apparently Ozil just agreed with terms from Arsenal 60 something million. PSG also made a last minute bid but Arsenl now has him… So sad…. 😭

    • headbandsandheartbreak September 2, 2013 at 4:50 pm #

Nothing is official until there is an announcement. They’ve been saying he agreed to terms with them for half the day now.

      • Cjl September 2, 2013 at 5:08 pm #

        Lets hope they’re wronggggg!!!!!!! ✨

  21. Lici September 2, 2013 at 4:45 pm #

apparently Mesut has been mentioned 1 million times on twitter today, 3 times more than Bale. Arsenal fans seem ridiculously excited to get him, so he will be loved. The footage of him arriving at the Emirates seems pretty conclusive, I’m being positive and am looking forward to seeing each week on MOTD. Sad times though, at least we know Ramos won’t leave…

    • Ula R. (@blue_eyed188) September 2, 2013 at 4:49 pm #

What is the chance that he came to London just to say NO to Arsenal? 😛

      • headbandsandheartbreak September 2, 2013 at 4:51 pm #

        He *is* very polite. 🙂

        • Lici September 2, 2013 at 4:55 pm #

I’m pretty certain he is *meant* to be with the national team in Munich, isn’t he? that’s why he had to have the medical in Munich?

          • headbandsandheartbreak September 2, 2013 at 5:09 pm #

He was. I mentioned that up/down comments thread.

            • Ula R. (@blue_eyed188) September 2, 2013 at 5:14 pm #

yeah, his ‘politeness’ is very admirable 😉 meh, i still deceive myself that it’s not gonna happen…

        • Mehreh September 2, 2013 at 5:00 pm #

Awwwwww. He is a very nice guy. Sigh.

  22. Cjl September 2, 2013 at 4:47 pm #

So true!! I’m a Liverpool fan and of course RM 😉 but I’m still excited to see him play in the BPL!! 😄 Still, he will be greatly missed…

  23. Backwards September 2, 2013 at 5:07 pm #

One hour to go before the window closes!
    (Please hurry up)

    • Cjl September 2, 2013 at 5:08 pm #

      AMEN SISTER 👍

  24. Ula R. (@blue_eyed188) September 2, 2013 at 5:25 pm #

It’s over. He said how happy he is to join. GOD WHY?? :((

  25. Miss_F September 2, 2013 at 5:30 pm #

It’s official! Welcome to England Mesut!

  26. Lici September 2, 2013 at 5:34 pm #

dammit, why do I have to move to Madrid, just after he moves here?? that’s what I’m really annoyed about…

  27. Kelsey September 2, 2013 at 5:37 pm #

It’s official he wrote it on his face book page.

    • headbandsandheartbreak September 2, 2013 at 5:46 pm #

Yes, posted about it. It took me a few minutes to type it because I was crying, okay?

      • SR 4 September 2, 2013 at 5:57 pm #

Awww *hugs*. His facebook message makes me so sad :(.
I stayed away from the football world for a while because I didn´t a break from all the drama and transfer circus and now this…
I honestly can´t believe it. He was one of the last I expected to leave. Hell I even thought there was a good chance for Iker to go but I didn´t see that coming despite the rumours…

        • SR 4 September 2, 2013 at 5:58 pm #

          *needed not didn´t ughh

      • drea September 2, 2013 at 6:17 pm #

Oh no, don’t cry! You’ll get me started… *group hug*

  28. Cjl September 2, 2013 at 5:39 pm #

    Guess who’s going to cry…. 😭😭😭😪

  29. JK September 2, 2013 at 6:15 pm #

the background on my computer is Ramos and Ozil walking away with Messi on the ground. every time I look at it, it makes me want to burst into tears.

I wonder how Sergio is taking this? If he has a bad game this week, we all know why…

    • ayen September 3, 2013 at 8:30 am #

Poor Sergio, now his tweeting about his bro

  30. illie September 2, 2013 at 7:24 pm #

Does anyone know if the rumors about Coentrao going to Manchester United have been finalized? All the twitter speculation has me freaking out :/

    • Laura Witrak September 2, 2013 at 7:54 pm #

The day is over right? Right? Please no more transfers!!!

      • illie September 2, 2013 at 8:08 pm #

I had hoped not. But apparently there’s a lot of drama surrounding whether or not ManU faxed the papers regarding the loan before the window closed :/ At least nothings been confirmed yet.

  31. Antonia Sweet September 2, 2013 at 9:39 pm #

Just to put this on the technical tip – wonder how CR7 will deal w/o Mesut feeding him so many tasty assists. They had a great connection.

    • ayen September 2, 2013 at 10:00 pm #

Poor Cris I wonder what he feels with Kaka and Ozil leaving. Perhaps Ozil will produce wonderful assists to >> Giroud? Now I’m looking forward to seeing him play in Emirates

  32. mygypsyspirit September 3, 2013 at 1:53 am #

Did anyone see Arbeloa’s tweets? 😥

    • ayen September 3, 2013 at 6:11 am #

Him wishing adan, ozil and kaka the best..The way he tweets those words are so sweet.
