UPDATED: Champions League Match Post: Real Madrid vs. Galatasary, Leg 1

17 Sep

RM vs Galatasary Leg 1Ready or not, here we go. There’s a part of me yelling “Too soon! It’s too soon!” We’ve got great players, let’s see if we can gel and beat Galatasary. While three reasons they have to look very scared are in the picture above, we’re going to be facing Drogba, Sneijder and Yilmaz. Urgh.  Anyhow, here’s a place to vent about the match. I’ll try to update later with any arrival pix and the starting XI.

Starting today:

Iker, Sergio, Pepe, Carvajal,  Arbeloa, Sami, Lady Edith, Di María, Isco, Cristiano & NewHair!Benz.

A group of Macedonian fans road tripped 12 hours to meet their idol…Pepe (weren’t expecting that, were you?) He graciously hung out with them at the hotel and posed for pictures. I love how that one guy’s head is perfectly in the road sign circle. Makes him look like he’s in some sort of religious icon painting.

LET’S GO! HALA MADRID!

“…we’re going to be facing Drogba, Sneijder and Yilmaz. Urgh.”
And we’re going to be facing them wearing Cheez Doodle orange kits. Double Urgh.

i find myself liking the dark grey/black with orange accent training kits, but the cheez doodle orange as the main color can go.

Maybe the orange kits will confuse Sneijder and he’ll accidentally pass to one of our boys, thinking he’s playing for the Dutch national team … ? Quick, Real, learn some Dutch phrases and start shouting them at random throughout the match! Befuddle him! XD XD

BRILLIANT. maybe this was the plan all along…

well some players on RM might know some of the dutch, Sneijder used to play there!!!

Oh Man, DROGBA – technically the prototype for the 21st century striker – large, fearless, wily and smart. Good luck, Sese and CO! BUT, I believe RM can do it!!! Neutralize those three and voila.

The closer we get to the match, the more my stomach starts to twist. 😦

Has Casillas been subbed? I’m trying to follow the commentary while watching United but it’s not going very well!

    • headbandsandheartbreak September 17, 2013 at 3:58 pm #

Yes, DLo came on for him at about 13′.

      • Miss_F September 17, 2013 at 4:04 pm #

Oh dear, I hope it’s not serious 😦

        • headbandsandheartbreak September 17, 2013 at 5:40 pm #

Ancelotti said it’s not serious. On the other hand, Pirata was injured today and it appears to be very serious. They’re not sure but he could be out for months. DAMN IT!

    DUDETTES! Is IRINA pregnant??????

    • Mehreh September 17, 2013 at 5:03 pm #

i think that is a hysterical rumor, but if she is and this is how he wants to tell people, good on em because that kid will be a stone fox.

      • Kristine September 17, 2013 at 5:07 pm #

I didn’t know it was a rumor, I was just going on Cris’ actions.

        • headbandsandheartbreak September 17, 2013 at 5:49 pm #

Everyone on Twitter immediately started spreading it as fact when they saw the goal celebration. 😉

          • jellyace September 18, 2013 at 9:23 am #

After the match, Cris tucked the ball under his shirt and walked off the pitch as preggy looking as ever.

    • headbandsandheartbreak September 17, 2013 at 5:30 pm #

The goal celebration was in honor of his new born nephew who arrived today. False alarm.

  9. Phédre September 17, 2013 at 5:09 pm #

I’m gonna have very sweet dreams. What a score! Cris really isn’t from this planet, not even from this universe!

  10. drea September 17, 2013 at 5:41 pm #

6-1. Smackdown. And his royal Crispiness scored a hat trick. *jumpy happy claps*

  11. Anna September 17, 2013 at 7:44 pm #

I had to keep away from all social media as I watched the match on record – I was so nervous after Villareal!
Great score, although I do think Gala sort of stopped playing. Best wishes for San Iker 😦
The boys were amazing in the second half, top of the group!

  12. Anna September 17, 2013 at 8:04 pm #

I’d also just like to note, Benz, if not for yourself, for the sake of the team. Never grow that… dead animal thing… back on your head. See what good it’s doing you already?!

  13. Laura Witrak September 17, 2013 at 8:49 pm #

Woot woot! Hala Madrid! 6-1. Keep it up gentlemen!
