WC Qualifier: Spain vs Belarus

13 Oct

No one objects to opening with this shot right? Sometimes you just gotta go straight to the dessert, am I right or am I right? 😉

VdB shook his lineup up a bit for this Qualifier, putting Valdes in goal and debuting Michu. Of course, peeps don’t like to see Iker on the bench…..but he did look so damn cute in that bib while chatting it up with Pepe Reina. Actually, according to Cuatro’s super cameras and super lip readers, the chat between Pepe & Iker went like thisIker: “Me leave Real Madrid? I can’t see it, mate. I’ll play in the Cup at least.” Pepe: “How many might there be? Ten? Twelve? In the end it’ll be a bloody awful season. You’re going to play ten or twelve Cup matches. The Cup’s a disgrace.” Sounds to me like Pepe just wants to bring all the boys to his yard. Haven’t you got enough of our boys, Pepe?? Settle down now.

It took a good while for the boys to create some action. In the end, Capi Xavi opened up the scoring with a shocker, in the 61st minute. The poor keeper didn’t even move an inch for that thang.

Negredo followed with his header in the 78th minute and it was a lovely juan too. If you can make your goal look like a horizontal body roll, consider me a life long fan. After the match, Negredo shared that he had dedicated his goal to Maria de Villota, the former F1 test driver who passed away Friday morning. She was the driver who suffered serious head injuries & lost her right eye last year in a crash, it’s believed that her long term injuries may have had something to do with her death. Such a sad, sad story…..RIP Maria.

It’s a good thing the boys managed to get their goals in because Belarus’ Kornilenko snuck one in at the very end. La Roja is in a good position in their group now, they could seal their spot in the WC by just taking away one point against Georgia. Hopefully they do better than just one point and exit their Qualifiers with a good finish.

I wish I was the guy(I’m assuming it was a guy) who put the tattoo under Sergio’s navel

Now that I got that out of my system I wish that this international break thing was over yesterday. I miss me some RM action!

I’m just glad none of ours came out of this injured so far…

Thank you for this recap, Maisoun! We had a terrible typhoon blow past our city with 120kph winds and we lost power and water (and internet!) for 20 hours, so I missed the match.

It’s things like this that make me thankful I was born in Suriname. I would litterally shit my pants If any of those horrible nature desasters would happen here. Thank God you’re ok though

Thank you for your concern. Yes, I am fine. But there are others who are still without power (3 days already), and some whose homes and businesses have been damaged from the winds and fallen trees. You are lucky to live in a paradise sheltered from the moods of Mother nature!

Thanks, dear. The worst for me was internet and TV withdrawals.

Oh no! I’m so glad you’re okay, Jel! I saw this on the news last night.

Yes, I’m fine, thank you. You should ask Paulo if he felt the earthquake yesterday. There was a 7.2 earthquake in a neighboring island…maybe it was a 5 where he was. Hope he’s OK.
