A Whole Lotta La Roja Comin’ At Ya!

18 Nov

I would normally put this shot at the end of the post, with the rest of the social media goodies, but seriously…Pepe’s in his underwear. That’s an opening shot, not a closer! I don’t know why it took this pic for me to realize it, but Pepe is totally the type of guy who’s pants are off within seconds of getting in the door. Pepe, we love you for that & thank you for sharing.

Let’s take it back a few days, when La Roja was still in Malabo. Here are some training leftovers, where the fans really came out to see the boys work it out.

At the end of the session, Sergio tossed his shirt into the crowd and it looked like a fight was going to break out over that thing! One lucky guy made away with the shirt in the end and I say lucky because it’s a miracle that thing made it out in one piece. Hey, I know I’d fight for anything that touched the Pony…

And then it was match day! Equatorial Guinea vs Spain

Here’s something you don’t see everyday, Captain Xabi!

Itty bitty Cazorla started things off early, securing an early lead for La Roja. He scored the opener in the 12th minute.

The second goal and winner was scored by Juanfran in the 42nd minute.

Now for some bonus pretty, Llorente started his lovely warm up in the 46th minute, when he came on for Negredo.  The man knows how to stretch them hips and inner legs…

Can we just live in this gif for a moment?

Another pretty young thang got subbed in, in the 80th minute, when Sergio came on for Inigo Martinez.

Yesterday was travel day for the boys, they made their way from Malabo to South Africa.

Sergio & Villa spoke with the press yesterday and VdB, Iker, & Iniesta had their turn today.

So serious and so pretty.

From Sefutbol.com

Memories – “Everyone has very nice memories, the years go by and time has come to return to defend the title.”

The World Cup – “Memories, I’ve got a replica of the cup, and now in the office I have great pictures. Every time I go home I like to look at it.”

Reception – “The reward of travel is the love we receive. It is more convenient to go to Europe, but other countries also have the right to see a friendly or training world champions.”

Playing in South Africa – “The vuvuzelas, details I now remember, this was annoying to hear while playing and yet now fondly remembered later.”

Competitiveness – “Hopefully this level is maintained a long time and there is so much expectation for us.”

From Marca.com

“Everyone’s general fitness is good. Both Alonso and Javi Martínez are fine. They trained normally.”

As for the future World Cup squad, Del Bosque admitted that it will be tough and that there will be big players who will not make the cut. “There is a long time to go. We have a whole host of players who can go. May is a long way off. We could see injuries, problems… we’ll try to be as fair as possible and take the best.”

Despite having so many players, Del Bosque revealed that the squad will be similar to the one from the last Euros and reiterated that there is nothing forcing him to take Diego Costa.

“We changed 50% of the players in 2012 compared to 2008. I don’t think there will be as many this time. We’ve tried to open the doors to the Spain team for a lad who wanted to play and who complements all of the other players we’ve got. No-one has secured a place in Brazil.”

“The memories flooded back when we went into the dressing room. We were nervous that day; we’re more relaxed today”, he said.

“We know that we’ve contributed to a historic era in Spanish football. People come up to us and thank us on the street”, he confided. As for how the squad took the return to the stadium, Casillas revealed that “all the players told a story or shared some of their memories and we all reminisced together”.

The Real Madrid goalkeeper also looked back at his most important contribution during the World Cup final: “I mostly remember the Robben save from seeing it on TV. I tried to stand my ground for as long as possible and I managed to stop his shot with the tip of my foot. I still get goosebumps when I think about it.”

Memories – “It’s great to relive the moments of the past, then … Both today and tomorrow we will enjoy that. Back to special places as makes us very happy.”

Yesterday, the first training session was held in Johannesburg and a lot of kiddies came out to see the World Champions.

La Roja took a trip  down memory lane today, returning to Soccer City Stadium where they were crowned KINGS OF THE WORLDDDDD World Champs, almost four years ago. Am I the only one shocked at how fast these past 3 1/2 years have gone by??

Rounding out this longgggg post are some social media goodies….Villa & Pepe Reina showing off their trophy baby, locker room shots, and Sergio…….doing some ball tricks.

I like Villa’s comment about the vuvuzelas. I fell in love with football that summer watching those World Cup matches.

I love villa and pedrito sharing earbuds like sweet slumber party buddies.

Pepe’s gift might actually be better than strip parchis…

There’s too much pretty in La Roja… I kinda wish they’d distribute it a little. Like… Distribute that pretty my way! I could use some nekked La Roja on the daily, in person.

Just for the record, and this isn’t a comment on you but the pics of Javi Martinez, VDB, Iker, Jesus Navas and Juan Mata from the airport actually belong to me. I was at the airport and I tweeted and tumblr’d the pics on my own personal social sites. But its not really your fault that someone took them and claimed the pics as theirs.

I’m so sorry! Send me a link to your tumblr so I can correct the credit, or remove the pics if you wish.
