UPDATED: Break Out The Champagne

156-228-GRUPO_1AM2224Thumb,8The mothership posted the first of the holiday videos and photos. This one is with Flo Peezy and the coaches & captains of both the football and basketball teams.

We get to spend more time side eyeing The Ramos’ denim shirt/leather tie combo, now with quilted leather jacket added to complete the ensemble. Still looks as bad as it did last week.

The Peez always looks so thrilled with life, doesn’t he? He’s probably sicking of looking at Sergio’s outfit too. I can’t wait for the player and video and the Christmas bloopers!

“Best Wishes for a family Christmas”

Florentino Pérez, Carlo Ancelotti, Pablo Laso, Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Felipe Reyes and Sergio Llull wish all Madrid supporters a very merry Christmas

Christmas is the time of year we most look forward to. It is special moment in which we can escape our routines and be reunited with family and loved ones; a time of hope and best wishes in which Florentino Pérez, Carlo Ancelotti, Pablo Laso, Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Felipe Reyes and Sergio Llull sent seasonal greetings to all Real Madrid supporters. The president, the football and basketball coaches and the two first team captains gathered around the Christmas tree to send a message to all Madrid fans around the world.

Following this weekend’s football and basketball victories, Real Madrid players will now take a break for Christmas so that they can be reunited with their families. As club president, Florentino Pérez says: “Christmas has always been a family occasion for us. We used to spend it together as a family with my parents, and now I do the same with my children and grandchildren, the sixth of whom was born just a few days ago. We try to make the festivities a time for love, affection and solidarity, and that is exactly what we wish for everyone”.

For Carlo Ancelotti this will be his first Christmas in Real Madrid: “This is an important time of year. It is a time to be with one’s family after a long year’s work. It’s a very happy time. I don’t do anything special. I just spend time with the people I love”. The Real Madrid captain, Iker Casillas, will be spending his twenty-fourth Christmas as a Madrid player since joining the club in 1990. The goalkeeper sent best wishes to everyone and told us a bit about how he spends his time: “This is the time of year when I am reunited with my family, who I haven’t seen for a while. We celebrate Christmas and see out the year together. My wish is that all Madrid fans can spend time with their families. I wish you all wonderful Christmas Eve and I hope you can spend the holidays with your loved ones”.

Sergio Ramos also spends the holidays “with my family, at home. This time of year is one we all look forward to as it gives us a chance to disconnect from the daily routine and be with your true friends and loved ones. It’s a chance to see out the old year and see in the new, with new dreams and desires. I wish joy and happiness to all Madrid fans at this important time of year”.

Getting together with our loved ones is something we all do at this time of year. At least that’s how Pablo Laso sees it, despite the important matches facing his team: “Christmas is always special. It’s a time to be with family and friends, all together. It’s difficult for us as the competition doesn’t stop and we have Liga and Euroleague matches. We try to make the best of the little time we have to be with our families but we can’t disconnect completely from the upcoming matches. We’re obliged to maintain our competitive rhythm”.

Laso is in his third season as Madrid coach and he summed up the positive year that the team is having: “I think 2013 has been very positive. This year the team won the league and the Supercopa and once again made it to the Final Four. Above all, however, I would highlight the good relationship we have with the fans, the feeling that the Madrid supporters are proud of their basketball team. For us that is almost as important as any title”.

Captain Felipe Reyes is well aware that 2013 has been a special year and chose to highlight one particular moment: “It’s been a great year. We won two titles and were able to celebrate the Liga with our fans. Up until that moment, all the titles I had won as a Real Madrid player were away from home and we didn’t have a chance to celebrate them on our home ground. Winning the league at home was a very special moment”. In reference to how he spends Christmas, the basketball team captain explained: “I spend Christmas at home with my family and loved ones. They are very special days for all of us, but we don’t have a break. We still have matches to play, and very important ones at that. We play in Badalona on the 27th and at home to Barcelona on the 29th, where we hope to give our supporters something to be happy about by beating our eternal rival. We would like to keep going as we are. People are very happy with our style of game and we hope that continues”.

In 2013 the Real Madrid basketball team has been involved in all competitions right up to the end and ended up winning both the Liga and the Supercopa. An excellent year and one which Sergio Llull, 26 years old and already a veteran in the side, wished to underline: “It’s been very positive. We got to the Final Four and won the league and the Supercopa. A great year, all round, though I would highlight the Liga. We won it at home and it’s always special to be able to lift the trophy in front of your home fans and in front of your eternal rival, Barcelona. I think we were very good in the playoffs”. Without forgetting the competition, the player from Mahón told us about how he spends the holidays: “We have two or three days to celebrate Christmas as a family together. They are very special days when you feel like relaxing at home surrounded by your family. We try to enjoy these important holidays all together”.

I just had the best thought ever- what if RM and Chelsea play each other after the round of 16… A little Sernando action anyone?! 😉

it was as cute as i hoped when they met in the ICC final. granted, not as exciting of a game, but, a little xabi/nando moment was delicious. i always forget they played together at LFC.

Iker talks too fast! I can’t understand him! But he’s so nice to look at, so that’s all right. Takes away some of the pain me eyes feel upon viewing Sergio’s jacket.

I can basically understand everyone but Iker! Like you Katie, I think he speaks so fast I catch every third word!

Exactly! I got the other three, but him? I know he said something about Christmas and family, and… yeah, that’s all I got.

You would think that we’d be used to his (lack of) fashion sense by now, but…

the fact that the tie and jacket are not both quilted gives it that extra sergio touch.

God, wouldn’t it be amazing if he managed to find a quilted leather tie? Then we would have all been wondering if he purchased it as a set.

just the idea that he looked at his insane cornucopia of a closet and said,”this is the outfit” brings me much holiday cheer. i really wish he’d paired the tie and jacket with his leather patch jeans.

I imagine Sergio will be spending his quiet time talking into Pilar’s pregnant belly! “Hallo, dees is yor Papi. Help is going on!”

We soon be hearing news of the arrival of Ikerito, right? Can’t wait!
