Hanging Out In Doha

Dude, I am so sure Xabi LOVED that.

Dude, I am so sure Xabi LOVED that. I can tell by his face.

Greetings from snowy New York where we’re at the start of what is apparently a blizzard. The wind is howling and the snow is swirling. Good times fun! Got up to watch the match this morning and see our bebe Jese score the first goal of 2014 (he also had the last RM goal of 2013)! Start as you mean to go on, Jese! While they were in Qatar, they visited the Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence.

Back at the team hotel, there were some very special visitors: former Blancos Michel Salgado & Raul!!!!!!

El Angel also did a little interview with the mothership. Oh Raul, I could look at your smile forever.

Raúl: “The stadium is going to seem small today. There are no friendly matches between Real Madrid and PSG”
by Alberto Navarro (Doha)

“Real Madrid is better than Schalke 04, but you always have to be careful with German teams because they fight right to the end”, he said of the Champions League round of sixteen playoff

Today Raúl visited Real Madrid at the team’s hotel in Doha and spoke of this afternoon’s match against PSG: “The stadium is going to seem small today. There are no friendly matches between Real Madrid and PSG and we hope the public enjoys themselves and that there are lots of goals. People have come from neighbouring countries to see the match and today is a holiday here”. He also discussed the Champions League round of sixteen playoff against Schalke 04, featuring the only two teams he has played for in Europe: “It’s going to be a special playoff for me. Real Madrid is better than Schalke 04, but you always have to be careful with German teams because they fight right to the end. They have a good team as well”.

Qatar is getting behind Real Madrid…
It’s a special day today here. Everyone’s excited and it’s going to be a great match against PSG. They’ve been training here for a week. There are no friendly matches between these two teams, the stadium is going to be full and it’s a holiday here today. People have come from neighbouring countries to see the match. The stadium is going to seem small today and we hope the public enjoys themselves and that there are lots of goals. I’m pleased to be sharing this moment with old friends and acquaintances.

What’s your impression of Real Madrid from a distance?
I’ll always be loyal to Real Madrid. I try to see all the matches, although sometimes it’s difficult with the time difference. I try to cheer them on, although sometimes I get frustrated. We’re at a great point in the season and now all the best is to come. The team is in a great position in the European Cup and there are still a lot of chances to make a comeback in la Liga.

You played in both Real Madrid and in Schalke 04. What do you think this Champions League round of sixteen playoff will be like?
It’s going to be a special playoff for me. It’s going to be great for Schalke 04 and I’m really happy that teammates and the fans are going to experience this playoff. Real Madrid is better than Schalke 04, but you always have to be careful with German teams because they fight right to the end. They have a very good team as well.

295-292-_HEL0367Thumb,0The day before Raul and Zlatan were both at Rafael Nadal’s match vs. Tobias Kamke. Mamen and some of the kids joined them. I can’t believe how big they’re are getting!

Maria’s a little girl now! Seems like she was a baby just yesterday. And the boys are becoming little men. Mamen is as stunning as ever. I know I say this every time, but that woman has had 5 babies! FIVE!

Oh and here’s a video of the team’s trip to Qatar. They headed right back to Madrid and will have training tomorrow.

I can hear the snow plows outside. I’m going to have some dinner and then drink some hot cocoa. Stay warm, everyone!

Oh, before I forget, there’s not been an official announcement of the birth of San Baby as of yet although everyone on Twitter is congratulating Iker. I’ll post when I get legit confirmation. Also, their trip to the hospital today may have been for a check up prior to the birth and not her going into labor.

Raul and mamen’s children prove how unfair genetics can be. I’m so proud that jese got to score today in front of raul, his idol. So many feelings 🙂

SO MUCH SNOW! Make it go away!

Seeing Raul with the team (not to mention taking in the game with Zlatan) gave me all the feelings. And it seems I wasn’t the only one, if the size of the smiles on everyone’s faces is anything to go by. It’s obvious how beloved he is, and rightly so! Also, Mamen only looks more and more AMAZING as she ages.

I was so psyched I got a snow day so I could watch this game! It was lots of fun. And RAUL! Always great to see him. Geez, Zlatan makes him look tiny, though!
