Thursday Training & Racist Arsehole Fans Strike Again

6 Feb

370-898-_VCM8765Thumb,22Sorry I’ve been out of the loop for the entire day. Work stuff and then medical tests. Also, I seriously was too pissed off to post anything earlier.

The team began their prep for Saturday’s match vs. Villareal. 12 players were on the pitch while yesterday’s starters had a recovery day.

Okay, on to the shitty part. The really, really shitty part. We’re well aware the racism is rampant in the sport and there have been many cases involving Spanish fans.  However, the head of the Spanish FA, Angel Villa Llona, insists there’s no racism in Spanish football. Oh really?

Yet another incident happened after the Copa Del Rey match yesterday involving Atleti “fans,” Marcelo and Enzo. Yes, you read that right. Racist abuse aimed at a 4 year old child.

FROM THE GUARDIAN

Real Madrid’s Marcelo racially abused by Atlético fans in Copa del Rey

• Marcelo targeted by monkey chants as he warmed down
• Abusive chants aimed at defender with son at his side

Real Madrid’s Brazilian full-back Marcelo and his young son were subjected to horrific racist abuse by Atlético Madrid supporters after his side’s 3-0 Copa del Rey semi-final first leg victory against their city neighbours.

Marcelo did not play in the game but joined a handful of team-mates in a warm-down session around 20 minutes afterwards. At that stage the only supporters left in the Santiago Bernabéu stadium were around 500 Atlético fans high in the north stand. As Marcelo ran towards them, they launched into monkey chants which were clearly audible in the virtually empty arena.

Marcelo stopped immediately below the fans and, motionless, gazed up at them before continuing his exercise. They then chanted: “Marcelo is a monkey.” When Marcelo’s young son came out and hugged his father soon after, the chant changed to: “May your father die.”

tumblr_n0krdtFmx01s40wrbo2_r1_1280There’s Enzo comforting his papi. How the hell do you explain that sort of hatred to your 4 year old child? Is it even possible? That people are abusing you and treating you as lesser than because of a fucking game?  Reprehensible, disgusting, vile, morally bankrupt, ignorant fucking pigs. There aren’t enough swear words in the universe (and as you well know, I probably know 99% of those) to say how I feel about these arseholes. How can you look yourself in the mirror? How can you justify that behavior? Are they proud of themselves? Did they go home and think “Hey, I racially abused a innocent man in front of his young child because he plays on a team different than the one I support. I did a good thing today!” JFC.  I just don’t even understand that mentality. It makes me sick to my stomach.  Marcelo responded today on Twitter:

Bf0NwfFIUAA0D00That this lovely man and his beautiful family have to deal with this shit puts me in an almost berserker rage. That he can rise above is nothing short of a miracle. I really do hope that the Atleti fans are punished, but what are the chances? Especially when the people at the top refuse to acknowledge that the problem even exists.  At the very least, Atleti needs to release some sort of statement condemning the behavior of the fans and hand down some sort of sanctions. We’re talking 500-600 people doing this shit. Take some responsibility for the actions of your fans. Hold them accountable, FFS.

Here’s Clarice and Enzo at the match before all this fucking crap went down.

tumblr_n0l3tj3Nla1s4kgg7o1_1280That sweet loving little boy should never have to hear that sort of hatred, especially directed at the father that he clearly adores (or at anyone for that matter). It breaks my heart when I think about them going through this.

There’s a special place in hell for people like this. May they rot there.

I hope the Atleti fans are banned from the next CDR match, which would be at their stadium. But even that is clearly not enough punishment for the horrible hatred they exhibited to Marcelo and Enzo.

I completely agree with you. They should be banned for life.

The Spanish FA really needs to step up and prosecute this stuff. It’s ridiculous.

I hate racism so much =( Unfortunately, it is not so uncommon here in Southern Europe, and masses of illegal immigrants from Africa are not helping the problem…

They have had racism related problems before in Spanish league. Real Madrid banished their Ultras Sur fans from their regular places at the Bernabeu because of racism and violence. I hated seeing Nazi swastika flags there. But Ultras of course are still there, only more placed differently.

Other incident of racism after Sunday derby was that magazine Mundo Deportivo called Pepe ‘mono’, monkey 😦 It had to do with his aggressive competition with Diego Costa, but also with skin color. Ramos and Arbeloa played strong too, but they were only said to should have thrown out of the game with red cards, not called monkeys…

At least Real Madrid made an attempt to ban the Ultras. I hope that the example that Madrid is trying to set will make the RFEF understand that something needs to be done

It’s a pity money can’t buy you some character, personality or even some common sense! On the other hand if it could, it would probably be too expensive for those cheap, morally bankrupt bastards!! They don’t even know how their behavior reflects on them. And where they come from to someone on the outside looking in.#smh. It’s not fair to judge a whole country based on a few idiots but if they keep demonstrating that behavior it makes it very hard to not think that the majority must be like that. Especially if the top refuses to acknowledge what is happening. It’s like they’re condoning this sort of behavior. It’s just sad really. I wanted to see Enzo soooo badly but not like this. Poor little champ 😦

This makes my insides churn. There is no problem so large that the people at the top can at least try TRY try to stamp it out. We have the technology probably to figure out who those wastes of space are and punish them.

Even if they can’t completely put a stop to it, the clubs need to take a stand against racist behavior. They need to remove offenders from stadiums and ban repeat offenders.

    This makes me so angry.

Racist chants are bad enough, but bringing a player’s innocent young child into this nonsense is the last straw.

Omg, what the hell did the man do to you, much less A FUCKING 4 YEAR OLD!!!!!!!! the people who did this are disgusting and action needs to be taken -_- . please excuse my language im so mad im seething right now.

Amen! I couldn’t agree with you more. What is really making my blood boil is the league’s lack of action. Their silence is acceptance. How can you talk about respect and do the PSAs and then the minute it happens….nada! For me this is personal, being futbol fan and a black women it makes me angry and sad that still in 2014 we are still subject to such hate and at a 4 year old. ArgHhhhhhhh!
