Training, a Chat with Xabi, and a WTF moment with Sergio

21 Mar

Baby got kicks! Training resumed today, with a few extra faces. Cristiano & Di Maria rejoined the squad after working out in the gym yesterday and Castilla players Lucas, Llorente, & Willian Jose also trained with the big boys.

Enjoy the Xabi pretty while it lasts, we’ve still got to get to the WTF Ramos moment… Xabi sat down to talk about this weekend’s match up, looking foine while he did so.

Real Madrid and Barcelona square off in the star game of this weekend’s La Liga matchday 29, and what is always one of the highlights of the year, in what will be the second Clásico of the season. Xabi Alonso was clear about what he would like to see in the headlines after this important clash: “Of course a victory for use would be the best possible news. To have played well, enjoyed it, that people also enjoyed watching and celebrating a win for the team would be the best news”.

“I think these are always very intense matches because of history and tradition because it is normally the two of us who are fighting for the titles. Their importance dictates that they are very competitive, with maximum tension. The matches are also very intense in the stands. When we play in the Camp Nou or when they come to the Santiago Bernabéu, above all our fans are really into the match and we like that”.

Real Madrid’s greatest strengths
“Above all we are an attacking team. With the attacking players we have, we create chances and score with ease. Then we combine that with good balance, a solid defence and great goalkeepers. We try to make the best team possible”.

“No, there are no secrets. Benzema, Bale and Ronaldo are good players, they understand each other well and they can change a game. They score a lot of goals, create assists and for us, forming the line behind them, it is easier to play with that kind of footballer”.

The toughest opponent he has faced
“I remember when I arrived in the Premier League there was a player at Middlesbrough, Boateng, who was very intense and very aggressive. It was one of my first matches in the Premiership. He was a Dutch player. He surprised me”. “A lot of players have impacted on my career. As time goes by the coaches really affect you, teammates too… I could not choose one teammate or coach, because I have had a lot”.

His routine for matches
“Nothing special. I always try and do the same. Well, I don’t try. I always do the same because it is the best way to prepare for matches and, then, you go into the match visualising what could happen. Thinking a little about what could happen to the contrary and normal things”.

Cristiano and Pepe took their ladies out to watch some basketball last night, when RM took on CSKA Moscow. Judging from the pics, it’s pretty easy to tell which couple had a better night….that’d be Cris & Pepe, of course! Luckily for Irina, boredom looks just as gorgeous on her as everything else.

Ok….the pretty stops here. Sergio paid a visit to la Cope radio station for the El Partido de las 12 program and showed up looking like a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, white friend reject….complete with a hedgehog shirt! SMH.

I pulled up to the radio station, about 7 or 8, and I yelled to the DJ “Yo homes, how’s my hair?…

Speaking of his hair….he knows we’re all talking about it….Sorry, not sorry, Sergio!

“A very deep and great friendship connects me with him. When a partner has a problem, one has to help, give love. The same was when I had a bad moment, Cristiano was the first one to worry and ask me how I was. I have a fantastic relationship with him. And he’s without a doubt the best player in the world and a brilliant friend.”

Members of the programme “El Partido de las 12” broadcast by ‘la Cope’ radio station met with Sergio Ramos three days before the forthcoming ‘Clásico’. “They are three very important points, and a chance to slam our fists down on the table but, if we don’t win, it won’t be the end,” the player said about the game.

Ramos is hoping for a ‘Clásico’ without controversy in which normality reigns. He admitted that in previous clashes “bad things happened”, but is confident the Real Madrid squad “knows how to deal with the press saying we’re violent”. In Pepe’s case, he believes the player “has learnt from it and grown up”.

Ramos openly admits he wasn’t on form at the start of the season: “Yes, I felt it. But now, on balance, I have always been clear about good times and bad. I have always been honest and clear. I think it was more of a psychological problem than a physical one: I wasn’t inspired.”

The Real defender said there were things he didn’t like. “They made comments about my hair, [OH SHIT!] invented stuff, about those closest to me… In my case, my brother and father”, he complained. “They should take a look at what I’ve won and I’ll have the last laugh at home,” he added.

One thing he was quite sure about was his wish “to retire at Real Madrid” and he refused to say which English club had tried to sign him recently.

Asked to choose between ‘la Décima’ and his second World Cup, he opted for the Champions League triumph: “I’ve already got a World Cup tattoo, but not one of ‘la Décima’. If it’s both, then I’ll show my critics.”

Greaaaaat. So he’s threatening us with another awful tattoo? If that doesn’t make you want to throw all the competitions, I don’t know what does!

Hola from Madrid! MyGypsySpirit and I came out of the Bernabeu and were having lunch when that interview came on TV. We basically spit out our cafe con leches. I just kept repeating (in wonder and in horror): “His shirt has fucking HEDGEHOGS!” Also SMH. That;s The Ramos for you. xoxo Lozil

I think he’s trying to one up Pilar. If she’s got Madrid’s supply of animal print clothing, he’s got to step it up and find shirts with the whole animal printed on it :/ Maybe you should hold up a large pic of a hedgehog during Sunday’s match, to lure Sergio over to your side of the stadium!

Come on now! Are you really surprised? This look couldn’t be more Sese if he tried. It’s absolutely ridiculous.

Oh, I’m never surprised when it comes to Sergio. It’s more of a “I’m not mad at you, I’m disappointed in you” sitch. The hotness….it’s just squandered, one fashion don’t at a time.

It’s not a WTF moment with Sergio, it’s another WTF moment with Sergio 🙂

So, I was watching old SNL digital shorts because Andy Samberg is my new obsession, and this comes up and I just die. Reminds you of someone? 😀
