Kross interviewToni had his first interview with Real Madrid TV (Video with English subtitles) and talked about how it felt to become a Real Madrid player. The mothership had some excerpts.

Kroos: “Real Madrid are the biggest team there is”
INTERVIEW | 18/07/2014

“To walk into the stadium for the first time with the shirt on was great. The fans gave me a great reception”, said the new Whites player.

You’ve managed to achieve your dream of playing for Real Madrid just after winning the World Cup for Germany in Brazil.
“First I won the title in Brazil and now it’s official that I’m a Madrid player, I’ve very happy”.

How did you feel pulling on the white shirt?
“Naturally I’m proud, it’s something that’s very special. To enter the stadium for the first time wearing the shirt was great. The fans gave me a terrific welcome. It was great”.

There were a lot of clubs in for you and you chose Real Madrid. What was the thinking behind your choice?
“Because in my opinion Real Madrid is the biggest team that there is. For this it was a straightforward decision to go to Real Madrid. It was my first and only option, and it’s great”.

How did you feel when signing your contract?
“I felt extremely happy and very proud. I was absolutely convinced that I had made the right decision to come here and everything that has happened to me today just confirms that. Everything has worked out quickly and easily; I really enjoyed getting to meet the fans – that was a special moment for me and made me realise that I have made the right choice”

You’ve been to the Ciudad Real Madrid and met Ancelotti and your new teammates. How did they greet you?
“It was very interesting to see the training facilities for the first time. I’m sure I will get to know the place a lot better. It’s fantastic; I was very impressed with what I saw – the complex is very big and it was also great to meet the coach, I had already spoken with him beforehand and now I can’t wait for August 5th to arrive so that I can start training with the squad and be ready to start playing”

What did Carlo Ancelotti say?
“He told me that he is very happy to have me here, and that the transfer had gone as planned. He also said that he was very happy that in the end, I had decided to join Real Madrid. He said that he’s looking forward to seeing me on August 5th when I will join the squad for training”.

What does it mean for you to have teammates such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Bale, Casillas, Xabi Alonso, etc.?
They’re all players of enormous quality. I come from a side that also has great players and for this it’s not something new for me to play with top quality players. But it’s obvious that Madrid have a magnificent team”.

How did his teammates greet him? Well, let’s just say that Arbeloa appears to have given Toni the traditional Team Show Me On The Doll welcome aka he felt him up (or it just looks that way).

A: "Get used to it" T: "Erm..."

“Welcome to Madrid, Toni!” “Um, is it too late to unsign that contract?”

He won’t be moving to Madrid alone. He has a longtime partner Jessica Faber and they have a son Leon who will turn one on August 14th. (Toni is 24, btw. More babies having babies!) Here’s some shots of Toni with Jessica and Leon.

He owns a house in Mallorca that he bought last year (how convenient!) and he’s currently staying there. Apparently one of the members of the media gave Jessica a little tiny Real Madrid kit for Leon. Looking forward to see how the little family settles into their new home in Madrid.
