2014 World Cup Goal of the Tournament

22 Jul

2388947_full-lndAccording to over four million FIFA.com users, this beauty by Golden Boot winner and Real Madrid’s new #10 James Rodriguez was the 2014 World Cup goal of the tournament.

And a little more closely now:
I thought it interesting James won for a goal vs Uruguay, as Uruguay forward Diego Forlán won this same award in 2010 for his goal vs Netherlands. Like the passing of the torch to the next generation.

And speaking of Netherlands, coming second in the voting was Robin van Persie’s “flying Dutchman” header vs Spain.

You can watch the top 15 goals as voted for by users over at FIFA.com.
