I posted this earlier today on my Facebook page and I’m still laughing hours later so I thought I’d share it with you all.
Replacing the lyrics of the Manic Street Preachers’ “Motorcycle Emptiness” (from 1992’s brilliant Generation Terrorists) with the names of German footballers is nothing short of genius. How on earth did this come about?
From the YouTube channel of Zachery Stephenson:
Some time in the not too distant past, journalist and Manic Street Preachers biographer Simon Price appropriated the Welsh band’s 1992 hit ‘Motorcycle Emptiness’ replacing the words with those of German footballers.
It was a bizarre but ingenious step and I found myself singing along as I read the lyrics so I felt compelled to record a version using a karaoke track.
I subsequently felt obliged to muster up a very basic video to accompany it. Here it is.
And I thank the universe that he got inspired to do it. This has made my day. Here’s the original:
Take a bow, Zachery. Y0u earned it. “HELMER! HELMER! HELMER!” I am weeping.
I’m guessing that football loving Nicky Wire would wholeheartedly approve even though he’s a Spurs fan.

Can’t. Stop. Laughing.
Still dying over this after half the day. Mertesacker Emptiness!
Remember when we had Metzelder?
Ah yes, back in the day… 🙂
