Keylor Navas: “Joining the best club in the world is a dream”
by Alberto Navarro

“Now I have to train, push myself and be prepared”, added the keeper in the press room.

After being presented and walking onto the pitch for the first time in his Real Madrid kit, Keylor Navas made his way to the Santiago Bernabéu’s press room: “For me and all of Costa Rica this is a source of great happiness. Joining the best club in the world is something I always dreamed of. I have to work hard and push myself to the max. Now I have to train, push myself and be prepared for when opportunities arise”.

“From the moment that the chance to join Real Madrid presented itself I didn’t have any doubts. It is something I have wanted my whole life and I couldn’t say no. I am very calm and confident. My hard work has stood to me and I feel privileged”.

“I have always followed Casillas and Diego López, who have shown that they are the best keepers in the world for years. It will be a daily learning experience. They are models for me to learn from and build my career around. Real Madrid has the best players in the world and I am thankful to God for making my dream come true”.

Butragueño welcomes him
“It is a pleasure to welcome Keylor Navas to Real Madrid. You have already felt the love of the fans, who will always support you but will also demand that you give them your best. We are sure that you will have a lot of success here. I want to wish you all the best during this period and, as they say in Costa Rica, ¡pura vida!”.

Keylor was accompanied by his wife Andrea Salas and daughter Daniela. Missing from the ceremony was his 4 month old son Mateo. Here’s some pictures of the cute little family. Mateo is one adorably chubby wubbocks woobins. We really need to start that RM daycare center.

The Daily Mail decided to see if Keylor could save 100 MPH tennis ballsbeing hit in his direction (video at link). Happily for us, the answer is “sometimes” If he can stop a tennis ball, a football should be no problem!
