Female Soccer Fans Subjected to Strip Searches

6 Aug

“Girls stand at the entrance to podtribunnogo room. Luggage storage there. Only 2 rooms with cells. In the photo a police officer, who told me about me about the bomb. “

As if Russia doesn’t have enough problems at the moment, some Spartak Moscow female fans were subjected to strip searches prior to a game vs Rubin Kazan this past Friday. Yes, you read that correctly. When I came across this story yesterday, I had no words. Today, I have many many words, most of which are unprintable and unsayable in certain company. So I’ll stick to those that can be said and you can fill in the blanks as you wish.

News of the incident came to light via a blog from Spartak fan Ekaterina Stepanova on August 4. Here is her original post (translated by Google so please allow some latitude for syntax):

As many already know, before the game had problems with inspection of the girls. Girls forced to strip, including required to remove underwear.
I encourage all the girls who were forced to undress, violating their constitutional rights, offending their honor and dignity, apply to the official fan club “Spartak Moscow” for legal aid. The more statements from us, the more likely it is the police will treat us with respect. Do not stay on the sidelines. This applies to all.

My story passes to the stadium ..

At the entrance to the stadium girls waiting their turn to podtribunnogo room. The queue is growing rapidly, as for inspection of each girl takes 7-10 minutes. 3-4 inspects a police officer. A girl at the exit of the premises podtribunnogo said that police were forced to undress. Walk into a room, there led into the cage. Offer to sit down on a chair and take off your shoes. Hats, don. A police officer said that the shoes do not have to, because I have to stand barefoot on the dubious mat and undress.

Further, such a conversation:
– I will not undress.
– So you will not pass the stadium.
– I’m at the stadium ticket scanned, doing nothing illegal.
– We have orders.
– Give me a document that specifies exactly how you should carry out the inspection. You can see out my clothes, I would not undress.
A police officer inspects as usual, spending dirty gloves in my shorts and T-shirt.
– Free. – I muttered.
Exhaling, heading for the exit from the cell where I was stopped korotkostrizhennaya dark-haired, short, thin, according to the form, the police boss.
– You are not inspected, as expected. The stadium you will not pass.
Turn to the young lady, who let me go, I ask: “Do you have inspected?”
She shakes her head in the affirmative. I follow on ignoring the “boss.” She stops me, says that the stadium would not let me. I answer that I talk to her and will not require a competent supervisor.

I feel uneasy. Left me all girls who are waiting for inspection. On my right, the girls who are screened. They undress completely. Including underwear.
I shock. I tell the police about the humiliation of the Russian Constitution, about the violation of human rights, about the law, about the order in which he will be in black and white, that’s what should be carried out inspection.

I was taken out of the room to the metal detector through which all run on the sector, it is worth employee she misses the girls who have gone through this humiliation. Asked to stay here, wait for some boss.

Tatarstan police officer assures me that it’s for our own safety. “Suddenly you have there’s a bomb!” – She says to me. I look at her crazed eyes, saying I’m a long time because you would have exploded. “You go to the event, we must carefully inspect all” – does not stop it. I explained to her that I go to a different public events, including non-sporting and have never faced such a boorish appeal to the audience. Hike to the play, concert, show event considered. Is there somewhere such inspections? I doubt it. Perhaps only in the Republic of Tatarstan are similar rules?

By the way, at my request, none of Tatarstan police not given. No documents submitted.

All this lasted for half an hour. As a result, the police officer on the last pass when I got a call on a mobile phone and I missed it in silence on the sector.

My victory.

I sincerely wish all the girls that were not on the protection of their identity and dignity, and silently removed briefs.

In this case, the law on this side. Never be allowed to humiliate himself.

Unbelievable. I would have left too. It is true there have been increased terrorist incidents in the region in recent years but these actions seem misdirected at best.

Front page news in Russia thanks to Stepanova (pictured)

A complaint headed by Stepanova was filed with the Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Premier League. She published a request for other women involved in the situation to contact the police with their stories and any photos, etc of the incident. So far 7 other women have submitted written statements to the police regarding their treatment at the game.

Spartak Moscow and the Russian Premier League have also filed their own complaints.

The President of the Republic of Tararstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, has warned fans they can expect similar treatment in the future. Something to look forward to in 2018 as Kazan is one of the host cities for the next World Cup.

The one question I haven’t be able to answer is why only women? Maybe men were subjected to the searches too; no one has claimed one way or the other as of yet. Police say all the searches were legal and carried out against people thought to be carrying contraband. Mmmm, well, four smoke bombs were set off during this game. If the women who made it into the game were searched then surely they weren’t the asshats setting those off those bombs. They just looked like they would do it. And perhaps that is the most subtly offensive part of this whole debacle.

FC Rubin Kazan fans light flares during the Russian Premier League Championship match between FC Rubin Kazan and FC Spartak Moscow at the Tsentraliniy Stadium on August 1, 2014 in Kazan, Russia. Look like men holding those flares to me.

I was born if former USSR, sadly this is not shocking to me. If anything I really think they should move the next world cup from there to a civilized country.

    Wow!

My first thought was the same…why only women? Also what are these bombs that a metal detector cannot detect, but can only be seen when completely nude?!

I would have left….fuck the money…and I would let the club know that I would not be spending money on tickets…or anything else…until this was stopped.

People only feel civil rights when it hits their pocket books.

This is also particularly incensing because I find myself having to explain women’s rights to more and more women!

Me too – I would have been befuddled by what was going on and then left like Stepanova did. And frankly, if they had been strip searching the men as well, I would have been telling them to leave too. No update on whether or not men were indeed searched too, thought Stepanova did make an update within the last day to say “girls checked only girls!” so I suppose that is a minor positive to the whole debacle.

There were metal detectors, so a pat-down and a bag search would have been enough. Same for the men. This security team went waaaaayyyyy overboard and humiliated the women.
