A Colombian lawyer is suing FIFA for 800 million pound or $1.3 BILLION. His claim? The refereeing during the World Cup was so bad that it caused him “moral damages.” Particularly the matchup of Brazil v Colombia.
Aurelio Jiminez, who is 74, says that the match caused him cardiac problems and he was taken to the hospital.
Now, granted, the match had the most fouls of the entire tournament and Carlos Velasco Carballo was pretty much a complete ass of a referee. He really failed to ever have control of the match. James Rodriguez took a large number of those fouls, and Carballo never booked Juan Zuniga for that knee to Neymar’s back (the one that left him with a fractured vertebrae).
But suing FIFA over the refereeing? I can’t wrap my head around this. This is seriously a “WTF” moment to me.
Jiminez did say, however, that should he win this lawsuit (as much as I hate FIFA sometimes, I hope he doesn’t) he will donate the damages to an unnamed government organization that is set up to improve the welfare of Colombian children.

I can see suing FIFA for your World Cup pub tab, but this is a bit silly…
If we had sued over our pub tab for World Cup 2010 and added in your wedding costs for good measure, we could have bankrupted FIFA. Why did we not do that? (Probably because the hangover lasted 4 years).
Now if he happened to been caught with some guy/gal, then maybe a lawsuit. But not the heart. You can get another one of those!
Ooh ooh ooh. I wanna sue FIFA too on the grounds that their having crap leadership destroys world football and therefore damages our mental health. It’s got ‘class action’ written all over it.
I’ll join you on that one!
Count me in!
