Ancelotti: “Atlético have not changed their style, they will be just as difficult as last year”
by Alberto Navarro

“There will be a fantastic atmosphere in the Santiago Bernabéu and our fans are going to help us”, stated Real Madrid’s manager in the press room.

Carlo Ancelotti appeared before the media in the Ciudad Real Madrid press room. The Italian coach, who revealed that “Casillas will start”, analysed the first leg of the Supercup of Spain against Atlético in the Santiago Bernabéu: “There are no favourites in this tie. It is a two-leg tie, 180 minutes, and we have to prepare well. The first match will not be decisive but we will try and take the lead and put in a good performance”

“Atlético have changed a little because they have signed some big players. Their style has not changed and it will be a difficult match, as it was last season. I am not going to play the same team in both matches. While some will play tomorrow, I’ll change it a little on Friday”.

The role of the fans
“There will be a fantastic atmosphere in the Santiago Bernabéu, as always, because it is a derby. The fans are all really excited and our fans will help us tomorrow in the first leg against Atlético”.

“We have a better team than last season.”

“We’ve signed three players who are going to bring more quality to the team and so we have a better squad than last season, but in order to enjoy that quality we have to work hard. This week the competition starts and the team is ready. There are no injuries and everyone is available to play”.

The starting eleven in the first leg of the Supercup of Spain
“I still haven’t decided and I’m not going to say because I still haven’t told the players. Casillas will play in goal. Iker is doing well. Everyone is confident in him and we’ll see who plays in the upcoming matches”.

Kroos’ role
“He’s going to give us more quality and the ability to have possession and play more directly to the strikers. He also brings experience to the pitch”.

Happy with James
“Against Sevilla, he changed his normal position and he needs to get used to that. We are trying this position out and he has no problems, he just needs to get used to playing a bit deeper. He is not missing anything. There have been a lot of changes for him. We are very happy with what he is doing and we’re convinced of what he will do in the future”.

Di María’s situation
“He’s available like the rest. He may or may not start the match. I don’t know what he has decided. I just know that he’s training and ready for tomorrow’s match. It will stay the same until 31 August and then we’ll see if he stays or goes”.

A possible change of system
“In the midfield the attacking player has to be more dynamic, while the player who is closer to the centre-backs has to be tactically quick and move the ball quickly and decisively. I’m not thinking about changing the system. I’ll use the same system as last year. In a match I may change something, but just at particular points of the games”.

The Diego López transfer
“Nobody forced Diego López out. He decided to change teams and his exit is not for sporting reasons. Last year we have two good keepers and we do this year too”.

And then the poor Mister did a Twitter chat. Bless him.

SatelliteI couldn’t believe what assholes people were being. So it wasn’t the most scintillating Twitter chat ever, but JFC, at least he was willing to do it. And for every reasonable question, there were 10-20 snarky comments slagging off our players and Carlo’s decisions, looks, weight, etc. People were outright rude and it was depressing. Someone actually said “Answer me you fat fuck.”  Charming. And these are the fans of our club. Mean spirited, petty, obnoxious and ungrateful: fandom at its ‘finest.’ They get a  chance to ask a world class coach a question and instead of taking it the opportunity seriously, they used it as a way to get attention for themselves: “Look at me! Look how “funny” I am! I’m being a dick to a famous person!” (News flash: You’re not hilarious. You’re really, really not) And then there were the idiots who just kept asking him to follow them because it’s all about them and the only valid thing in the world is apparently how many people follow you. SMDH. Watching that crap all unfold made it feel like everyone on Twitter has the emotional maturity of 12 year olds. And I feel like I’m insulting pre-teens by comparing them to these geniuses. People want the immediacy of access to their idols that comes with social media, but when some  of them get it, they get this weird mob mentality. They become abusive, dismissive and outright nasty. Others egg them on and it becomes a game of who can be the most unpleasant.  Gee, that certainly is something to aspire to.  I firmly believe if they were standing in front of Ancelotti, they wouldn’t say any of these things to his face.  They’d be fawning all over him. That they hide behind a computer makes them even more pathetic.

The team doesn’t have to arrange this sort of stuff and I wouldn’t blame them if they chose not to in the future. I mean, why the hell bother only to get a handful of actual questions and boatloads of abuse and stupidity? I”m sure that Carletto has much better things to do with his time, like prepare our team for the Spanish Super Copa. People really need to grow the fuck up. It’s embarrassing.  I want to think my fellow Madridistas are better than this but time and again lately, I feel like I’m being proven wrong.  It’s just so disheartening.

The whole thing  was  total bummer. Sigh. Now I’m back in the bad mood was in this morning. Here’s some palate cleansing Enzoboy & Marcelo along with Leo Carvalho.

Anyhow, let’s hope all goes well for us tomorrow. The team will have a brief training tomorrow pre-match.

Ahh, I totally missed the chat! Would have asked such insightful questions like, what’s your fav spot in Vancouver or can I convince you to come to Edmonton next summer for the WC or could you use your Roma connections and kidnap Totti and De Rossi and send to me. Ya know, the important stuff. 😉

And you’re right; assholes gonna be assholes. What RM player is going to agree to one of these after this shit show. Petr Cech did something similar on his own last week and same crap happened.

I think it’s just ridiculous. Makes RM fans look like morons. THEY DON’T REPRESENT US!

I believe someone did ask about Vancouver.

Ugh, I hate when people use the Internet as an invitation to be wretched.

Also, people are thinking way too small with their demands. “Follow me on Twitter, Carlo!” Pfft. Hire me as Real Madrid’s fashion consultant/hamstring stretch helper, Carlo. 😉 I’m just saying.

THAT’S IT EXACTLY! Why waste time with twitter follows when you could find yourself as Real Madrid’s hot oil thigh massager/underwear chooser? Pffft! “I think your glutes need extra work today, James – C’mon over here!” or “Karim, I don’t think those boxer briefs have a lurid enough pattern on them. You need to model all 10 of these pairs that I have picked out for you while Toni feeds me grapes. I need to keep my energy up for this grueling work.” Sign me up.
