Remember – you have to choose your players and save your team in order to gain points. The transfer window is open for another two days. Get in there and adjust your players. I know I have some tinkering to do on my team, for sure. Always remember to check the La Liga Injured/Suspended List before purchases. It’s linked under Spanish football on the right hand side of every page.

I need some help on a couple items.

    1. First of all, I am probably on the way down the road towards dementia so I forget to do things. I think of completing my team, I get distracted. Sorry about forgetting to put my team together.

    2. Is a team not complaint if there are a couple openings for being on the bench. Does it matter? I keep trying to fit in a team but end up with hardly anything back. Was the amount the same as last year? I just don’t remember!

    Thanks for your help Lozil.

I can help with your second question. Yes, the amount was different last year. Like $50m different. I was surprised by such a drop but it does align with similar fantasy leagues in this respect.

Where Yahoo didn’t align is the cost assigned each player. In those other options (which I know about), no player started out higher than 12.5 or 13 mil. That’s half what Cris or Ronaldo were priced at from the start here. Picking either of those players makes it very difficult to construct a balanced team. Even picking someone at $18mil makes it difficult. This is likely why you are finding it difficult to fill all the openings for your team. I did too, then I just decided to fill the ‘cheap’ spots first and then fill in the starters.

The other item I found this week is related to player value changes, which maybe others found out did as well. Last year, if a player’s value went down after the week scores were tallied an update would be made to your team automatically. For example, if Cris went down from $45m to 42m, you would then get a credit of $3m to reallocate. That didn’t happen for my team this week. I had to go in and check if any values changed negatively, then drop the players, add back in and save to get the credit.

Perhaps it is just a first week glitch but this will get very annoying if I have to do it every week. Who has time for that?! I’m sure in Yahoo’s mind they made all kinds of fantastic chances to the fantasy league this year. But not in mine. They’ve made it rather unappealing for an activity that should be fun.

Hey there – happy to help!

hopechaser kindly caught you up on the changes to the fantasy football this year (I agree that they’re annoying!) As for the first part, yes, you have to fill up all the spots before your team is considered complete. I bought some expensive people, so I ended up having to grab a couple of million dollar ones to fill out the spots. It’s impossible to create a balanced team. Grrrrr!

The thing is, there aren’t too many 1m players, so it’s been pretty hard to fill the bench spots. And if you don;t fill the bench spots, your team is considered incomplete and does not earn any points.

While the player prices have been adjusted lower than last year, it’s not quite low enough to get good starters. It’s really a challenge.

One other feature which is gone is the selection of captain, who gained double points.

Just a warning: their player list is not totally updated so a lot of players who have been transferred out of the league are still on the list.

BTW, the injured list of your link has not been updated, so here is an alternate one, which I like better:

I don’t know what feedback occurred for Yahoo to make this many bad changes and consider it a positive. Maybe they just ran out of time putting in three more leagues? They should take a hint from the a EPL on how to design a well-run fantasy league. Still the best I’ve encountered.

I had forgotten about the captain change. Thanks for the reminder!

        Hey Seguir

Thank you so much for your help. I was in the bottom 3 or 4 last year so it’s not so bad.

Then I learn on the injury report that both Pepe and Sergio are injured!

I will probably be switching Pepe out and someone in. I’m not sure about Sergio.

        Thanks again!
