1409226790_extras_noticia_foton_7_1Former Real Madrid defender Fernando Zunzunegui passed away from a heart attack last week at the age of 70. Zunzunegui played for Los Blancos from 1965 to 1973, following a successful period at Celta Vigo. During his time, the team won two Copa del Reys (1970 and 1974) and four Liga titles (1967, 1968, 1969, and 1972). He eventually moved to Levante where he retired from the game. Two very nice obituaries are available here and here.

A moment of silence was held in his memory at the Castilla vs Getafe B game this past Saturday. Celta has announced they will observe a moment of silence on September 13 at their game vs Real Sociedad.

Rest in peace, Fernando.
