Chicharito’s Big Day

Oh god, the 14 shirt isn't even cold yet. :-(

Oh god, the 14 shirt isn’t even cold yet. 😦

Well, it’s the day I’ve been waiting for: I’m seeing Kate Bush tonight! I’m finding it hard to think about anything else. But I thought I’d post some pictures of Chicharito’s signing yesterday.

Chicharito: “Playing for Real Madrid is a dream come true”

“I’ll give everything to help the team keep winning titles“, said the new Real Madrid player.

Chicharito Hernández spoke for the first time as a Real Madrid player in the Santiago Bernabéu press room: “I’m delighted and completely grateful to the whole institution of Real Madrid for having made the effort and I’ll give it my all. There is no player in the world who can say they wouldn’t like to wear this shirt or be at this club. It would be a big lie. For me it is a dream come true. I’m really happy to be here and I’m going to try and have fun, to help the team and win titles”.

“I am believing it, as they say in Mexico. You know what it means to represent this club and I am here to contribute and hopefully things will go well for me. The most important thing is the present. I’m trying to live this dream and, starting tomorrow, working and giving my best”.

Role on the pitch
“I’ve come here to belong to Real Madrid and I’m delighted to be at this club. I always try to lead my life with a lot of objectives and goals and I’m here to give everything, both on and off the pitch, and to help this team to be as or more successful than it is. None of the big teams, and this is the biggest, can win with just one player, they need everyone to achieve as a group”.

“I’m a Real Madrid player. I accepted as soon as I knew there was interest in me and I hope to do as well as possible. I’m lucky and I have come here to enjoy it and help the team, which is the most important thing. The thing I love most is playing football and playing here is a blessing”, added the forward.

“It is a dream. Being able to represent this club is a dream come true. Every player knows what Real Madrid represents and it is an honour to be here”.

“We all dream of wearing this shirt some day and being alongside the best players in the world. It is an opportunity.”

“You’re going to see a decisive, determined Javier, a professional on and off the field, and I’ll try to repay the trust placed in me. What we want is to win titles and we’ll work hard for it. I’ll give a hundred percent to contribute and help the titles come. I’m always grateful to the people who support me and follow me. You are going to see a Chicharito who’ll give everything on the field. It’s a team game and the most important thing is for the club to keep winning titles”.

Goal-scoring debuts
“They’re things that can sometimes happen but I have never gone onto the field thinking I have to score in my first match. I’ll enjoy myself and in my head, mind and heart I’m totally grateful for being given the opportunity to be a part of this squad alongside the best in the world”.

“I had a chance to have a very quick chat with him this morning. He said hello and told me how he was because there was no time. It has been a pleasure to meet him and I’m grateful to him too for trusting in me”.

Hugo Sánchez
“I haven’t been lucky enough to talk to him. Talking about Hugo Sánchez… it has all been said and everyone knows what he means in this club. I’m here to do my thing. Hugo Sánchez had a great career at Real Madrid”.

“I’ve never made any. Goals are a consequence of everything but in my mind it’s a consequence of the team. The important thing is to win, regardless of promises. What I can control is my attitude and I don’t see it as a chore. I see it with happiness and motivation”.

Current form
“I’m never satisfied and I always want to learn. There’s no such thing as perfection but you always have to aim for it. I am really excited. I’m delighted and completely ready”.

“When a club of this magnitude is interested in you it really motivates you and gives you a morale boost. The only thing in my head is to help on and off the pitch”.

Favourite team
“I’m a Real Madrid fan, of course. In Mexico you keep an eye on Europe and there is nobody that hasn’t seen a Real Madrid match. I’m delighted and I’m going to wear this shirt to win titles”.

With international duty happening, the team isn’t around and Chicharito’s presentation was low key – just for the media.

I’m looking forward to seeing how he slots in with the team.  Off to Kate soon!

    where was I ? ? ?

    Oh yes

Well, football moves on. I still wish he’d come to the EPL though (Xabi I mean).

Are you calling him Chicarito (because he looks pretty) on purpose or is that a typo?

It was a typo as I was racing to try to put up posts while typing on a computer that wasn’t mine while I was in England. I’m human, I make mistakes. I probably shouldn’t have bothered and just enjoyed myself instead of worrying about posting on the blog while I was away. I’ve added the missing ‘h’
