Varane: “I want to continue growing with this great club”
Raphaël Varane expressed his delight after signing his contract extension with Real Madrid: “I’m really happy that I’m staying here. I thought about continuing with this club and with this contract I am now able to do that. I feel great and everyone has treated me very well, almost as if I were a youth academy player. It is a great honour and I am very fortunate to be able to wear this jersey”.
“This contract shows the confidence the club has in me and I want to continue growing. I have progressed a lot since I came here as an 18-year-old but I want to keep growing with this great club. I am more mature now and I have learned a lot”.
Ambitious
“We are going to try to win the European Cup again as well as other titles. We have a fantastic squad and I think we can succeed. I have experienced a lot of enjoyable moments, as well as bad ones, and it fills me with pride. I think there will be more good times ahead in the future and I am going to be happy here”.
The team also continued training for our Saturday match vs. Deportivo.
I’m having surgery tomorrow morning so depending on how I’m feeling, I may or may not be updating over the next few days. But hopefully, I’ll be feeling much better in time for the match on Saturday.

When I saw the tweet that there was an official statement re: Varane I got SO nervous, so it was extra thrilling to see that he’s signed with us for a nice long time. I know Ancelotti prefers Pepe, but I really want Varane to have a future with us.
