Vanidades, a popular Spanish language women’s magazine, named David Villa as their Icon of Style Award for Sports this past Thursday. Ahh……unexpected, right?
I often make fun of his taste in denim choices, and his t-shirts are on (sub) par with the rest of the Spain boys. But, in relation to his peers and teammates (Dani Alves, for instance), he does routinely reside on the positive, non-offensive end of the style scale.
Best part of the whole event were the photos of David and Patricia out on the town. These two are my favoritest football couple.
Honestly, if by some fated event I ever came in contact with them both, I’d be even more excited about meeting her than him. She just seems to have it all together. Plus, she doesn’t parade their kiddies around for photo ops or on social media, she doesn’t cash in on David’s success and fame (that I’m aware of), and she looks like she’d have your back no matter what. All traits and actions I deeply respect. But I digress…
His career certainly keeps tracking upward, doesn’t it? Last year at this time, I was mildly depressed about his move to Atletico. This year, he’s sporting a La Liga championship medal, living in New York City, playing for an upstart team with ties to one of the biggest teams in England, and winning a fashion award. Incredible.

And Patricia was a footballer, too!
I guess the magazine likes David Villa’s play on pink and the fact the he often wears his wife’s jorts!
Oh no no no. No way does Patricia have jorts in her closet. That is all him and the influence of his La Roja pals. Of this, I am convinced.
I’m not surprised he was given a style icon award. He’s clearly doing some kind of magic that makes people forget about his actual clothing; much like he has magicked me into adoring him, and not caring at all that he’s played for both Barca and Atleti.
He and Patricia, and their kiddies, are adorable!
Villa in a tie = one of my favorite things… The man cleans up extremely well. I’m glad someone gave him an award for it!
he just keeps on getting better and better looking with age, doesn’t he? hopefully, nyc will knock some fashion sense into him and he’ll outgrow his penchant for d-squared tees and all things acid-washed denim.
