Here comes another one of those stories I love so much. Swansea City fan Harry Jacobs wrote a fan letter to his favorite player and hero Jonjo Shelvey, explaining that like Jonjo he suffered from alopecia. Harry hoped to meet Jonjo, but the club decided to make a whole day of it for the little guy.
So great. I have a cousin who suffers from a form of alopecia, and it was hard for her growing up. People would assume she had cancer, and throw sympathy and pity her and her parents way. Then when these people were corrected, some would look at her like she was some weirdo they had to get away from.
She was pretty resilient but kids and their parents are cruel and she started wearing wigs by the time she was ten. I’m really glad Harry and other little boys have someone like Jonjo to look up to and who understands their situation. Can’t help but wish my cousin had such a person when she was young too.
