Welcome Back To Madrid, Fernando!

tumblr_nhohdpCUCj1qewc1xo1_400Nando had his presentation at Atleti yesterday and received a rapturous reception. 45,000 fans packed the Vicente Calderon to welcome their favorite son back home.

He first had a press conference and then posed with family and friends before greeting the fans.

Check out this really fantastic video which covers the whole day. There’s so many great parts, Nando’s happiness, his reunion with Manuel Briñas (“El Maestro”, founder of Atlético de Madrid’s youth system) who gives him a fatherly kiss on the forehead and Nando being all fatherly with Leo and Nora. (Leo holding his ears from the crowd’s roar is so adorable).

There’s also some great footage from the BBC. And another which shows his family (including his nieces and nephews).

And check out Nora & Leo tearing around the pitch while their dad does his thang.
I love all the pictures of Olalla, Nora and Leo. Such a beautiful family. (Click on any picture to view full size or start viewing the gallery).

I swear I cried watching the video.. I was a bit sad Aragones was not there. I really have high hopes he does well for the club, as the club will do him well too.

I got pretty weepy too. Even though he plays for our crosstown rivals, it’s hard not to care about Fernando. He’s had such a rough road these past few years and he’s always wanted to come back home. I wish him the best. It was a beautiful video.

So happy to have him back…even if he plays for the other side. This should make tonight’s CDR match so exciting!
