What Is Wrong With This Picture?

Girls like soccer too arseholes2So I found this in my inbox today and it made me growl in frustration. Why not Mommy’s little mascot?  Because I know plenty of hardcore lady Madridistas with woobinses. You may think that I’m overreacting, but check out the whole ad after the jump.

Girls like soccer too arseholesSo what’s missing from those pictures, eh? It should be fairly obvious, but just in case you’re not seeing it: Where are the little girls in this scenario? I know it might surprise some advertisers but girls like soccer too, FFS! Should they not also be wearing the kit of the team that they support? Should they not be dreaming of being like their Blanco idols?  At least when you click through they refer to children’s sizes with a gender neutral “kids” but honestly, I just think this was a ridiculous misstep on the part of the Real Madrid to put out a campaign that ignores a hefty chunk of their fan base. I sent them a note telling them so too.  I tithe a good chunk of my income buying things related to the team every year. I would appreciate seeing my gender represented as part of the Madridista community. Is that too much to ask? Sheesh.

I’m surprised as well, given there are a number of women that work for the club in important fan based roles. PLUS I also tithe a large amount of my income ever year to this damn club! Between jerseys, traveling to Madrid multiple times for matches and the Bernabeu tour, and traveling all over the US I damn well want to be represented!

Exactly. When I think of how much money I spent on this damn team over the past year, it makes my blood boil. Flights, hotels, match tickets, kits, other merchandise, etc. etc. etc.
