“Against Barcelona we’ll need to show personality and character to impose our style of play”, added the Real Madrid coach.

Carlo Ancelotti spoke to the media in the Ciudad Real Madrid press room on the eve of the Clásico, which sees Real Madrid travel to the Camp Nou: “Barcelona are on a better run than us, it’s a complicated and difficult match for both teams. We’re very confident going into this game because it’s an opportunity to return to the top of La Liga if we win”.

“Each team has their style of play and each team will look to impose that style on their opponents. Our aim is this: to play our game. To play the best possible match in every aspect: in defence and attack. To show personality, character and impose our style of play”.

Barcelona
“Messi is in really good form, as are Barcelona as a whole. On a tactical level, they’ve changed the positions of Neymar and Messi, which are freer in comparison with our meeting in the first half of the season, but they have the same quality and characteristics”.

His dressing room
“It’s special for everyone, not just because we’re up against a top team, but also because of the moment of the season. There is a different atmosphere to other games. The team are calm, and confident of playing the best game possible. We’ve prepared the strategy for the match very well and we’re going to try to do what we need to win”.

“I’m sure there’ll be no shortage of attitude and concentration tomorrow. We’ll give our all in that respect.”

“The team look in very good shape to me, but above all having Modric and Ramos is going to help us a lot. The team have improved their physical condition; but tomorrow won’t be won physically, but with our heads”.

Taking a draw
“I’ve never taken a draw in my career. We have the quality to win the game, as do Barcelona. No-one will take a draw. It’s an important game for the club and the Madridistas, as it is for Barcelona. It’s a match with a worldwide image and we have to enjoy it”.

What motivates him
“I’m motivated by the fact that I like and I enjoy my job, and on top of that I coach the biggest club in the world. I’m honoured to be an important part of these games and to be in the dugout for a match like tomorrow’s. I’m lucky, because I would pay for a ticket to see a match like this one”.

The quality of patience
“It is part of my personality. This atmosphere has helped me to increase this patience. Some say to me that I have limitless patience, but it does have a limit. I feel good and I’m going to continue to. I know this world, and having a cool head is the most important thing, to prepare these types of matches too. I have complete confidence in the players and that what’s ahead is going to be positive. In the recent period we haven’t played well, but there is complete confidence”.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s physical shape
“He’s in good shape. He has put in a good week in training and he’s firing on all cylinders in this respect, as are all the players. He has done very well in recent games and he rescued us against Schalke. He has scored goals, given an assist and has shown good form. I’m not going to ask more from him than the rest of the players. The team has to stick together in all areas”.

Bale’s role in the Clásico
“I don’t think there is any player with greater responsibility than the others. I will ask the same from him as the rest. We have to attack with 11 and defend with 11. He’s never played in the midfield. His position is the same, it isn’t going to change”.

Champions League tie against Atlético
“Tomorrow’s match is the most important right now. The tie with Atlético is another competition”.

Coentrão
“He hasn’t played so much, but he’s in good physical condition to play with the national team. He’s in good shape. He played well against Schalke”.

Odegaard and his Norway call-up
“He’s doing well and he’s on the right track with Real Madrid Castilla. His future will be fantastic. It’s good for him to be part of the national team”.

The following players were called up for the match:

Goalkeepers: Casillas, Keylor Navas and Pacheco.
Defenders: Varane, Pepe, Ramos, Marcelo, Carvajal, Arbeloa and Nacho.
Midfielders: Kroos, Bale, Lucas Silva, Modric, Isco and Illarra.
Forwards: Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema, Chicharito and Jesé.

The team traveled to Barcelona this evening and were greeted by over 600 fans at El Prat airport. More fans greeted the on arrival at the Fira Center hotel. (Video)

Let’s do this, gentlemen! HALA MADRID!
