The Evil Empire Continues

29 May

SeppBlatterWCFor those who weren’t watching the clusterfuckery of the FIFA elections live today, here’s how it went down:

The first vote had 209 ballots 3 of which were disqualified. 73 were for Prince Ali Bin al-Hussein and 133 for Blatter. Sepp needed 140 votes in order to win outright, which he didn’t get. So that means they would need to go to a second round of balloting and then the majority vote would win. There was a whole bunch of discussion and then the Prince took to the stage and made a speech saying he was withdrawing before the second ballot. So Sepp won. Again.

One can only hope that this is some sort of FBI plot that the Prince was in on and now Sepp is going to be indicted. I kept hoping that they’d arrest him right after the vote and I could watch it live. Sadly, that didn’t happen.  If you have the stomach, read his FIFA Congress opening speech from yesterday. Oh the hypocrisy! And here was his winner’s speech. Bizarre doesn’t begin to cover it. Later on he was getting down to some FIFA business and he was waffling on about Ocean’s 11 and chanting “Mehico! Mehico!” You can’t make this shit up. He said he will step down in 4 years. I believe that about as much as you’ll believe that I’m immediately going to dump Real Madrid and become a hardcore Barca fan. Ain’t. Going. To. Happen.

That said, I think this is the beginning of the end. I feel like the DOJ & FBI have something up their sleeve and they wanted business to go on as usual. I think it’s pretty funny how vocal some of these people were about supporting Blatter. They have to know that’s going to put a target on their backs. Oh well, not my problem.

Have a good weekend everyone. This is shitty, but not unexpected news. Guess it’s been the week for that, eh?

I could not believe it when I heard. I’m hoping your theory is true, but then one of my friends theorized that Sepp turned in a buncha people to gain immunity for himself….and now I’m thinking, what if?

You know, I didn’t even think of that scenario. I hope it’s the reverse and that those arrested will turn witness against the Old Coot.
