RISE: A Documentary of the Canadian Women’s National Team

3 Jun

doyle-rise25rv1RISE is a recently-released documentary following the Canadian Women’s National Team leading up to the 2015 Women’s World Cup. It was compiled over a three-year span, starting with a chronicling of the team’s dead last finish at the 2011 Women’s World Cup through to the controversies and bronze medal win at the 2012 Olympics in London through to preparations for this summer. Told via the player’s own voices along with head coach John Herdmann, this is a fantastic and emotionally intimate view into the squad leading the charge for World Cup glory.

I’ve watched the documentary about three times now (alright, maybe four). It’s so inspiring to me and I am thankful these are the players championing the maple leaf in this global competition. Go #CanadaRED!

(I apologize for the not-so-good video quality, but it’s the best I could do!)
