Tuesday’s Clasico Prep & International Update

17 Nov

Satellite (6)The team continued their prep for this weekend’s Clasico. Argh. I never take El Clasico casually. My stomach is already in knots.

Keylor trained indoors again. Sergio worked on his own in the morning then presumably went off to pick up his new woobins. Karim did the first part of the session with the group and then trained inside. Castilla’s José Carlos Lazo, Álvaro Jiménez, Fran Pérez, Garci and Marcos Llorente joined the first team.

The mothership also posted a video of  Cristiano’s 15 goals against Barca to get us pumped up.

In international news, the Belgium – Spain friendly scheduled for today was cancelled due to security concerns yesterday. The Germany – Netherlands match tonight was canceled when people were already at the stadium about an hour and a half before kick off due to a bomb threat and credible intelligence that an attack was planned for the stadium in Hanover. The stadium was actually evacuated twice. About an hour prior to the game being called off a suspicious suitcase was found. Full story here.

The England – France match at Wembley went off without a hitch, thankfully. The stadium was beautifully lit up in the tricolore in tribute to France.

wembley-arch-tricolore2England won 2-0. Match report and the beautiful moment of fans of both teams singing La Marseillaise is here. More pictures here.

I read a tweet by @melchorcope that indicated that Karim was injured or had a set back in training week.
