Copa America: SemiFinals – Colombia v Chile

24 Jun

This match was a bit crazy. The second half was delayed 2 hours due to lightning in the Chicago area.

22 June 2016: Colombia 0 – 2 Chile

Man of the Match: Charles Aranguiz

Like the Argentina, Chile wasted no time in getting on the score board. In the 7th minute Cuadrado played the ball into Aranguiz who then poked it past Ospina. They scored their second in the 12th minute, when Fuenzalida tapped in Alexis’ shot after it came off the post. Chile kept pressing and Colombia looked completely disorganized. By the 20th minute, Colombia seemed to have gotten themselves together. They had a few good chances on net but couldn’t get the ball past Bravo. The first half ended and the second half was delayed for 2 hours due to lightning. When the players finally came back on the pitch, it was waterlogged. Colombia were denied a penalty in the 47th minute when Jara tripped James in the box. In the 57th minute, Colombia went down to 10 men when Sanchez (not Alexis) received a red card. After 4 minutes of added time, Chile are on to the final for a repeat of last year’s final against Argentina.
