I love this photo so much!

Starting Lineups:

Las Palmas: Javi Varas; Michel Macedo, David Garcia, Aythami Artiles, Daniel Castellano; Vicente Gomez, Roque Mesa, Tana, Jonathan Viera, Momo; Marko Livaja

Real Madrid: Kiko Casilla; Nacho, Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Dani Carvajal; Marco Asensio, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric; Cristiano Ronaldo, Alvaro Morata, Gareth Bale

No Marcelo, no Pepe, no Casemiro… But we finally have Keylor back at least on the bench!

We got things started and our first good chance came in the 7th minute. Toni did well to win the ball but his shot was saved.

Morata had a good chance just a minute later but his header was saved.

The first booking of the match came in the 23rd minute when Mesa was booked for dissent.

In the 25th minute, there was a lot of scrambling in the box but we just couldn’t get the ball into the net.

In the 33rd minute, Nacho made a fabulous run down the left and had a shot. Varas saved but pushed it into the path of Asensio who headed it in for our first goal.

In the 38th minute, off a lapse of our defense once again, the ball was crossed in and fell to Tana. He settled and put it easily into the back of the net.

I thought we’d looked much better up to that point. But that goal seemed to take the wind out of our sails. Las Palmas began pressing harder following that and we scrambled a bit for the remainder of the half.

Las Palmas seemed to be doing everything they could to get a card for The Pony. It was frustrating.

In the 43rd minute, Bale took a wonderful ball from ToniLive but unfortunately his shot was right at Varas.

After 1 minute of added time, the half ended Las Palmas 1 – 1 Real Madrid.

Second Half:

We had a fabulous counter-attack in the 48th minute. Cristiano made the run and played the ball across to Bale whose shot was saved by Varas. It fell again to Asensio but Marco and his luscious locks were offside.

In the 53rd minute, Las Palmas made their first sub when El Zhar replaced an injured Viera.

In the 54th minute, Garcia was booked for dissent after the ref didn’t book The Pony. It was probably a handball and they wanted that call badly.

In the 56th minute, Sir Tans-A-Lot put it into the net after a brilliant run by Gareth but Crispy was offside.

In the 58th minute, ToniLive went into a heavy challenge on Gomez and picked up a yellow card.

In the 64th minute, Benzema came in. But he didn’t replace Morata, which was what we all expected. He replaced Asensio. And, to be honest, I like Morata and Benzema in there together!

Benzema immediately had a chance but he couldn’t get enough on it to get it past Varas.

In the 67th minute, War Kitten got his goal. Cris took a shot and again, Varas spilled it. This time it fell for Benz who fired it in.

And how cute was it that he ran straight for James? I think I like this bromance. Benzriguez? Jarim?

In the 69th minute, Araujo replaced Momo for Las Palmas.

In the 73rd minute, Vazquez came in for Cristiano.

A lot was made about his attitude. For me, I think Cris was probably more upset about not playing to his standards than he was about the substitution. I also commend Zizou for having the balls to take out Cristiano. We all know that doesn’t happen often. And I don’t think there’s any way that he’s 100% fit. We’re probably hoping to save him for Dortmund on Tuesday.

In the 77th minute, Dani picked up a yellow card for a bad tackle on Tana.

In the 81st minute, we got some Isco love when he came in for Morata.

In the 85th minute, Araujo put the ball past Casilla after another bout of poor defending by our defense. It was also a bit unlucky to ping pong off Casilla. I’m becoming more and more disappointed in the Ramos/Varane pairing.

In the 88th minute, Lemos replaced Livaja for Las Palmas (la la la la… So many L’s)

In the 2nd minute of added time, we had a chance but Benzema could only volley over the goal.

Then in the 4th minute, Carvajal crossed the ball perfectly for an Isco header but again he couldn’t direct it and it went over.

After 5 minutes of added time, the match ended. We dropped points to a tough team.

Las Palmas 2 – 2 Real Madrid.

Post-Match Comments:

Asensio: “The draw doesn’t please us because we had the game more or less won”
by Alberto Navarro (Las Palmas)

“We didn’t lose and we will keep moving on”, stated Morata.

“We have let slip two points that are key to winning LaLiga. We should have won but we weren’t able to. We will analyse it later but we have to keep working hard as always and give everything to win LaLiga. I want to be able to gel with everyone, I want to play and I always give everything”.

Varane: “We’re still up there and it’s a long old season”
“We’re disappointed to have dropped two points. We wanted to put in a good performance and come away with a win, but we’re still up there in the table and we now have to keep on working hard. We had the game under control and they only had a few chances in the second half. We conceded some rather strange goals, after a richochet and on a cross… but we’ll keep working hard and it’s a long old season”.

Squad rotation
“We need everyone in the squad. We’re all in good shape and want to give our best for the team. We’re as relaxed as we always are and are feeling good. We’re just lacking a few small things, we’ll work on those and I’m sure that we’ll go on getting better”.

Post-Match Social Media:

I’m going to throw in some extra. A lot of fans are sliding into crisis mode and I think we all need something to smile about. So I’m doing some photos from today as well.

Our next match is Tuesday at Dortmund. I’m nervous, but I think we can pull it off.

And thank you again to Managing Madrid for having me on. I’d also like to offer a big “FUCK OFF” to the guy that said “Suarez was right…” (“football is for men”) about one single sentence I said.

¡Hala Madrid y Nada Mas!

The only manager to make the decision to sit CR7 and have the complete support of the fans is Zidane. Zidane explained why he took CR7 out of the game and pretty much everyone eventually agrees with him (except Barça fans). The team also needs to get of the Cristiano-dependency. He is 31 and more often than not in the future, RM will need someone else to pull the team ahead.
I’d like to see Morata and Benzema together too but I don’t see how the team can support two strikers without making some major sacrifice either in the midfield or sitting someone who deserves to be on the pitch. We already struggle to make the right choice for the starting 11 as it is.

I agree with you on Morata/Benzema. We especially can’t make that sacrifice without a DM. However, we didn’t concede that goal until Morata came out so….

The press hounds RM/Zidane about rotations and making sure players have enough rest and then jump on them when the coach actually does it. It’s ridiculous.

Unsure whether to pronounce it like “Hahm-zema” or “Jam (as in jelly) zema” LMAO
