Eighth Day of Training

19 Jul

Maybe that will help with his NBA dreams?

The team had their 8th training session in LA (and said goodbye to Morata ::sniffle::).

The team got a visit from another NBA player. This time it was Houston Rockets small forward/shooting guard Trevor Ariza. He met with the team, and in this video, had a bit of an awkward conversation with Isco where our little rock star seems to be saying that he’s too short of be a basketball player. No denying that, but awwwww!

“I’m happy with how the first week has gone and we now have to keep it up”, the coach declared in an interview with Realmadrid TV.

Zidane Zidane spoke to Realmadrid TV to reflect on the opening days of pre-season training, with the Whites’ coach talking about the challenges that lie ahead and the work being undertaken by his charges at UCLA: “We’re here to work hard. The players are working very hard and are doing really well. I’m happy how the first week has gone and we now have to keep it up”.

“Pre-season is important as it allows us to work on the areas we want to. We have to work hard and that’s what we’re here to do. Our three-week stay here is very important for the rest of the season”.

Demanding season
“It’s going to tougher than ever, but we’re preparing ourselves for that. We want to continue to work hard and the players are aware of what lies ahead. This year is going to be tougher, but at the same time that’s just how we like it. We enjoy the challenge of getting on with our work and winning things again come the end of the season”.

The players
“They’re the most important ones in all this. As I always say, and this will never change, it’s important that they’re excited, work hard and show dedication. I’m lucky enough to be here and I’m going to make the most of every minute and every day. I’m fortunate to be at this great club. We’re going to try and have a good season”.

Casilla: “Real Madrid are always the team to beat”

“The key to last season was the togetherness of the group and the coach’s confidence in all of us”, said the Whites’ goalkeeper.

Following the end of the first week of pre-season training, Kiko Casilla spoke to Realmadrid TV and Realmadrid.com about the sessions at UCLA and the challenges facing the team going into the new season: “Real Madrid are always the team to beat. We’re used to playing that role, to having that tag. We’ve got to demand even more of ourselves than last year. With the work we’re putting in and the team we’ve got here, we’re well prepared”.

“This week has been a lot about increasing strength and stamina to make sure our bodies are ready. We already knew how tough it was going to be. The goalkeepers do a lot of physical work on the legs which helps to be quick and agile. August is an unusual month, we’ll be straight in at the deep end. We’ve got these three weeks of pre-season to get used to being back on the pitch as quickly as possible”.

Last season
“I take away the togetherness of this team. One of the keys to our success was this bond and the confidence that the manager showed in the whole squad. That’s one of the formulas which helped us to win what we did”.

And happy birthday to Juvenil A defender Manu Hernando who turns 19 today! He’s part of the pre-season tour – what a great birthday present, eh?
