Prepping For The Second Leg

14 Aug

Cristiano. Sigh.

Sooooooo….how about that first leg of the Spanish Super Cup, eh? That was…well…

We won, that’s the important thing, but oh Cristiano! Way to make your return to the pitch eventful, eh?

Shigs and I were watching the match and these were our 3 stages of Cristiano.

First, that stonker of a goal. GORGEOUS! We screamed at the top of our lungs.

And then there was fond cackling as he ripped off his shirt because that is so Cristiano.

And we all know that he never forgets a slight, so it was a total response to Messi showing his shirt at the Bernabeu after a late winner last season.

But we were also like “Stupid move, dude. Why get a yellow card to make a silly point?”

And then he was taken down. Some say dive, some say trip. I’m going with the latter. Unfortunately, referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea went with the former, showed Cris another yellow and of course, 2 yellow cards equal a red. (This happened in a 3 minute period…) And then he did it. Cris pushed the ref. Both Shigs and I gasped. We couldn’t believe it. Ugh. So now he’s been given a 5 match ban. While RM plans to appeal the second yellow card, there ain’t no appealing that push. That was flat out fucking wrong. It’s just weird. It seemed very out of character for him.  BTW, congrats to Asensio on that lovely goal. He has now become the only player to ever have scored on his debut in 5 different competitions (European Super Cup, La Liga, Champions League, Copa Del Rey and Spanish Super Cup). If he scores in the Club World Cup too, that will be awesome!

Anyhow, Cris is out for the second leg so the team got to preparing for Wednesday’s match. (Video)

Luca and Achraf of Castilla once again joined the group for the session.

Cris is letting all the drama roll right off his back, as is his way. He posted this shot from training.

Well, it wouldn’t be Real Madrid if we didn’t regularly feed the Drama Llama, right? Sigh.

I went from cheering to going wtf just happened in seconds. Inappropriate behaviour and insanity.

    I have questions.
Did Messi get a yellow for the shirt incident? Also, you can’t take your shirt off?
