A Trophy, A Birthday, A Retirement & Much More

18 Dec

Well, it certainly has been an eventful few days, hasn’t it? We won our 5th (!!!!) title of the year on Saturday.

Club World Cup

Let’s count ’em up, shall we?  Club World Cup, LaLiga, the Champions League and UEFA & Spanish Super Cups. Not a bad haul!

And it was Zizou’s 8th title as a coach in less than 2 years:  2 Champions Leagues, 2 Club World Cups, 2 European Super Cups, 1 league and 1 Spanish Super Cup.

Congratulations to the team, who bested Gremio 1-0 on a CR7 free kick. (Video)

Holiday Lunch

The football and basketball teams had their holiday luncheon today at the Bernabeu. (Video)

Annual Hospital Visit

Then the coaches and the captains made their way to two Madrid hospitals to distribute toys to sick children. Zizou and Pablo Laso went to Hospital Universitario Sanitas La Zarzuel while Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Felipe Reyes and Sergio Llull went to the Hospital Universitario Sanitas La Moraleja. I especially enjoy Sergio’s hella Ramos-y outfit. All that green! And then a gray blazer plopped on top. Green shoes even. And a turtleneck. And a vest and the long adored green jeans. It’s like semi-formal leprechaun. Never change, Sese. (Video)

Kaka Retires

One of the big surprises (at least to me) this weekend was that Kaka announced his retirement. He has spoken of a return to AC Milan in an off-field capacity. While many met the news with sadness, we know one person who is going to be excited to not see Kaka on the regular: Shigs. But as I pointed out, when he was playing, at least she knew where he was most of the time. Now he could be anywhere. Someone is going to be sleeping with one eye open from now on and I am clearly evil. Godspeed Kaka! Your elegance on and off the pitch will long be remembered by those who love the beautiful game.

Karim turns 30!

How can Karim just be turning 30?! It seems like he’s lived a thousand life times already, doesn’t it? He turns Dirty 30 tomorrow.

As long as he keeps being his typical Benz self, I’m here for it. (And bring some goals, boo). Here’s some classic Karim: Bringing a professional videographer to EuroDisney to document his trip with Melia and setting the resulting footage to a slow jam. Never change.

And speaking of babies…

Two of our former woobineses are expecting their first babies!

Sergio Canales (aka Jailbait!) and his beautiful wife Cristina Llorens are so cute together. Their baby will be adorable.

And no surprise that Alvaro Morata (aka King Muppet Baby) and wife Alice Campello are expecting. These two bring the schmoop hardcore on Instagram. They are clearly besotted with each other. That’s going to be another gorgeous baby.

Congratulations to both couples!

And tomorrow, we begin preparing for El Clasico. Ugh.

Oh Karim. Kitty kat!! Oh Sergio. You may be our capi now, but we never want your fashion sense to ever change.

I am NOT ready for clasico. Stocking up on alcohol. It’s a case of omfg help!

Can you imagine if Sergio gave up his “outfits”? I would be so incredibly sad.
