Zidane: “Sevilla will pile the pressure on and we will have to play as best we can from the start”
by Alberto Navarro | Photographer: Victor Carretero“It will be a great game and we hope to end up as high up the table as possible”, added the Real Madrid coach.
Zinedine Zidane spoke to the press at Real Madrid City the day before the Sevilla game (Wednesday, 9:30pm CEST). The Whites coach said: “It’s important to start the game well because Sevilla will pile the pressure on and we will have to play as best we can from the start. Caparrós often puts out a team that puts the pressure on and plays with high intensity. I saw the game against Real Sociedad and they took them to the limit. It will be a great game”.
“We have three LaLiga games to go and tomorrow we will give our all. We hope to end up as high up the table as possible. It is a chance to get three points, but we know that they want to play their game. You are about to see a special match and that is the important factor”.
Minimise the risks
“I am not thinking about injuries or what can happen to the players before the Champions league final. Sometimes they need a rest but I’m not worried about injuries. Playing whilst thinking about the injuries you can get is no good. You have to be positive. When what happened with Cristiano Ronaldo happened, and it was something minor, the best we could hope is that the player recovers as soon as possible and that’s that. It is football, you can’t control it. Tomorrow the players that fit the bill will feature”.Isco and Carvajal returning
“Isco trained as normal and we’ll see what happens there. Carvajal needs a little more time but he trained alone today and he is doing well physically. They will all feature in the Champions League final. I am 150% sure about that”.The Champions League final
“It is going to be an open, spectacular game, with both teams getting chances. The key for us is planning how we are going to make it difficult for them. It will be a feisty affair and I’m sure it will be truly spectacular”.“It is a Champions League final and we know what Liverpool can do. They have a bit of everything: physicality, technique and speed. They are an English team that knows how to fight. We still have a way to go. Salah is a phenomenal player who has had a standout season, but he is not my player. I’m only concerned with ending this season in the best way possible”.
Cristiano Ronaldo
“He got injured but is doing well, walking as normal. It is great that he can walk already and that shows his drive and ambition to get back and play every game. It would be perfect to have him back for the Villarreal game. it is a knock, but he didn’t damage his fibula. His ankle is ok”.Barcelona’s attitude in el Clásico
“I was not surprised but I’m not going to get into it. We left everything on the pitch. A lot of things happened and know a lot these days because there are so many cameras, and people voice their opinions. A lot of things happened prior, but that stays in the dressing room. People know what happened but that won’t change much. It is a lot of talk that will not alter the situation. We drew and that is that”.“Sometimes there is too much focus on things outside the sport. It is better to look at the game rather than the controversy. I’m more concerned with football than controversy. it was a foul but the referee did not see it. Everyone makes mistakes, but I’m not going to criticise the referee for that”.
The youth team player César
“He is a skillful player who is gifted with the ball. I like that. I don’t know whether he will be with us for preseason. It is still early. Maybe he will end up going”.Superstitions?
“I am not superstitious at all. I like the black and turquoise away kit and that is why I chose that kit in Munich. People within the club chose the hotel, and they did very well”.

Carvajal: “We’re on a winning cycle and let’s hope we can secure another Champions League crown”
“I’m feeling great, I’ve been out on the grass and started to do some ball work”, stated the Madrid wing-back.
With now just 18 days to go until the Champions League final, Dani Carvajal sat down to reflect on the latest news from within the Real Madrid camp. The wing-back spoke about his recovery from injury and offered his thoughts ahead of the showpiece against Liverpool: “It’s no easy task to reach the Champions League final. We’ve made it in four of the last five years and we’ve now got to finish the job. We’re on a winning cycle and let’s hope that in 18 days’ time, lady luck smiles on us and we’re lifting our third consecutive Champions League trophy”.
“Liverpool had a really good Champions League campaign, scoring a lot of goals and showing themselves to be a really attacking side. Their journey hasn’t been an easy one either and they’ve knocked some pretty tough teams out along the way. Before then, we’ve got the Sevilla game tomorrow night and it’s one we want to win. We have to finish as high up the league standings as possible. We’re now that bit closer to Atlético and we’ll try and finish in second”.
Recovery from injury
“I’ve now been out on the grass, I’ve started to do a bit of ball work and some running. I’m feeling great and it’s been quite a few days since I last felt any pain”.
El Clásico
“It was a very evenly matched game and it was a one that lived up to the name of El Clásico. For all neutrals it was a great spectacle that served up four goals”.
The team will travel to Sevilla tomorrow.
