Thursday Recovery Session, Awards And A Birthday

A scoreline of 3-0 in our favor? Yes, please! That was pleasant to see yesterday. Let’s keep going with that, gentlemen.

Training

The team took part in a recovery session after yesterday’s Copa Del Rey win over Leganes.  Castilla’s Cristo, Fidalgo, De Frutos and Javi Sánchez  were called up for the session. Lucas Vázquez, Valverde, Casemiro, Reguilón, Odriozola, Vinicius Jr., Ceballos and Nacho did some running while Mariano and Javi Sánchez did part of the session with the group. Karim, Sergio and Keylor worked out indoors. Asensio, Llorente, Kroos, Bale and Courtois are continuing with their respective recoveries. (Video)

Awards

Lots of awards to report. Sergio was given the Seven Stars of Madrid (Video). Keylor Navas received 2017 Ibero-American Community Trophy (Video). Marcos Llorente was voted Mahou’s Cinco Estrella Player of the Month for December by the fans (Video).

“I will keep working hard and giving my all to represent what this award means and the seven stars of Madrid”, said the captain at the event which Florentino Pérez also attended.

Sergio Ramos was at the Real Casa de Correos in Madrid to receive the Seven Stars of Madrid prize 2016 for Best Male Athlete. Angel Garrido, head of Madrid’s regional government, was on hand to award him the prize, which honours the work of athletes who have has great success and the sporting entities that have done the most each year in order to promote sports within the region itself.

In his acceptance speech, the Real Madrid captain said: “It gives me a real sense of both joy and pride to have been named best male athlete at the Seven Star of Madrid awards. I am even more thrilled to get a prize for promoting and embodying sporting values. I am from Seville, Andalusia and I certainly feel it, but the region of Madrid welcomed with open arms 13 years ago and it is here where I have grown as a person and a professional, and I feel at home at here”.

Pride and values
“I am proud to be Real Madrid captain and we have represented the region throughout the world in the best way possible, winning titles, providing the people of Madrid real moments of joy and always trying to live up to what the region represents. Thank you all. I will keep working hard and giving my all to represent what this award means and the seven stars of the region of Madrid.”

Ángel Garrido: “Sergio Ramos is a 10/10 sportsman”
“There is not much left to say about Sergio Ramos because he is a global footballing star and a shining example of working with others. He is a 10/10 sportsman. There are very few people who can represent such love for their team, the love of their country and that notion of never giving up.”

Alongside the Real Madrid captain, Sara Andrés, Jesús Tortosa, Camino Martínez, the Sanitas Foundation, the Atlético Madrid Women’s team and the Las Rozas Local Council were also awarded for their actions.

Keylor Navas has been awarded the 2017 Ibero-American Community Trophy

“I am happy and proud to win this prize. It is a privilege to be here”, he said at the National Sports Awards .

Keylor Navas picked up the Ibero-American Community Trophy given out by the National Sports Council, at Spain’s National Sports Awards 2017. The event took place at midday at the Palacio Real de El Pardo. The Costa Rican goalkeeper was handed the award by Spain’s King Felipe VI for his “contribution in helping to lead by example in sports”.

Navas, alongside Emilio Butragueño, director of Institutional Relations at the club, was part of the Real Madrid side that in 2017 was part of the Real Madrid that in 2017 lifted the Champions League, Club World Cup, LaLiga and both UEFA and Spanish Super Cup trophies. “I am happy and proud to win this prize. It is a privilege to be here and enjoy such experiences. It motivates me to keep improving because I know I can”.

“2017 was a great year, I loved it. We worked well, being part of a team that won titles makes me feel so proud, I look back on it fondly”.

Situation within the team
“I can see myself being at Real Madrid a long time. I’m going to work hard. Nobody knows what the future holds and life can change quickly. I try to focus on the present and my present involves Real Madrid and I will keep on giving everything I have. The day I think I’m no longer a number one, I will go home and focus on other things. The coach is the decision maker and it is up to us to work hard, push on, perform well and when the chance is there to play, give our best”.

The key to his success
“We always play with heart, play for the badge. That’s what counts. We were go out on the pitch all we want to do is win games and titles. This attitude led to big things for us. We need to keep plugging away and enjoy such moments”.

“We need to always be united as a team and fight for what we want to achieve. I know everyone believes in the talent that these players have individually as well as what we can as a team. The results are not what ideal, but we always push for more and that will not change.”

“It was great. We are ready and make ourselves available to play. I Kept a clean sheet and we won at home, in a tie as important as that gives us a confidence boost to keep moving forward.”

Marcos Llorente, Mahou Cinco Estrellas player for December

The midfielder picked up the monthly prize awarded by the fans at Real Madrid City.

Before training, Marcos Llorente picked up the Mahou Cinco Estrellas award for December at Real Madrid City. The midfielder enjoyed recognition for his performances in the last month of 2018, as he scored his first Whites’ goal and was named the Club World Cup final man of the match.

Llorente played all seven games for Real Madrid throughout December. The fans pick the winner of this accolade via a poll on social networks.

Dani turns 27 on Friday! It’s his 6th season with the first team – time flies!
