Im still going through your archives and I just realized that I have so much to catch up on! For example, what is a watishta(is that right?)? You girls should come up with a virtual welcome packet for newbies like me. Hopefully, it will include a glossary. Haha!

Let’s cheer for our boys together ( in spirit) when they go up against barca this weekend! Hala Madrid! 🙂

We do have a Glossary! And a Manifesto! If you look in the right hand column of the blog under the tag cloud, you’ll see a place to subscribe to the posts via email and then the HB & HB necessities (Twitter, Glossary and Manifesto) – also a list of sites that we love. I think maybe we should reorganize that side and put the tag cloud at the bottom so people don’t miss this!

The Glossary will definitely help you understand what we’re nattering on about and our Manifesto will tell you about how we started, got our name, etc.

          And what’s a wa-tishista? Well, now you are! 🙂

Edited to add: I moved things around a bit so the Necessities are easier to see.

I just got to this page and I already love it! More so its in English, I try to understand Spanish as much as I can as I am a Madridista but this very convenient. I like how you write your little blogs with details from the official site and additional research!
    Keep up the good work.

    Much love from the Maldives.

    Hala Madrid!

  12. Barbarossa June 6, 2014 at 7:34 pm #

Hello! I was made aware of football manlove just a few weeks ago.
And discovered this site two days ago and loving it.

I thought I’d let you know that a perfect book for you was published last month.
    (I haven’t read it myself)

21st Century Jocks: Sporting Men and Contemporary Heterosexuality

    Just look at the cover.

It is an academic research on sportsmen and how they relate to each other.

The table of contents goes like this:

    1. Birth of the Jock

    2. Homohysteria

    3. Including Gay Teammates

    4. Changing Homophobic Language

    5. Recognizing Bisexuality

    6. Loving other Men

    7. Kissing other Men

    8. Freaking other Men

    9. Cuddling and Spooning other Men

    10. Cheating on Girlfriends

    11. Sex with other Men

    • headbandsandheartbreak June 6, 2014 at 8:32 pm #

Welcome Barbarossa (great user name!) You’ve come to the right place for the man love. 🙂 That book looks like a good read. One of the things that I love about Spanish soccer is how comfortable and demonstrative the men are when they express affection for their friends. I checked out the book on Amazon and it’s pretty pricy, probably because it’s an import and brand new. Hopefully the price will come down and I can check it out. Thanks for letting us know about it. 🙂

      • Barbarossa June 6, 2014 at 9:07 pm #

        Hi! Thanks for your reply!
Don’t you want to get paid for researching sport manlove and writing an ACADEMIC book like this?!!

Anyway, this is just so sweet.
Ronaldo is waiting for Ozil like “yes, come here”.

I have been staring at this for a few minutes.
        I have no life.

        • headbandsandheartbreak June 6, 2014 at 9:17 pm #

Yes, I wish I could! That roll in the grass came in second for the Best Goal Celebration Tishie for 2013. You’ll have to scroll through the other categories to see it.

If you dig Mesut & Cristiano, check out the Crozil tag or the Isn’t Bromantic tag/category.

          • Barbarossa June 6, 2014 at 9:25 pm #

THANK YOU, I watched this! HOW CUTE!
He is waiting with open arms! He knows Mesut is coming!!

I didn’t even know I liked this three days ago.

            • headbandsandheartbreak June 6, 2014 at 10:39 pm #

Once you go bromance, you never go back. 😉

              • Barbarossa June 8, 2014 at 6:45 pm #

That will most likely be the case for me.
                AHHH the t-rex Mesut!

I also found Gareth’s secret diary extremely amusing.
His almost teenage man crush is so intense!

                • Barbarossa June 17, 2014 at 5:17 pm #

I think i just died reading this.
I have come a long way really fast in just a week.

                  • headbandsandheartbreak June 17, 2014 at 5:38 pm #

We do an Epic Bromance Month every year (and have since 2011). If you click on the Epic Bromance tag in the list on the right, you’ll see 90+ bromances! (We tend not to repeat them except for the requested All Stars).
