Because the universe hates us and wants to rub Xabi Alonso in our face one more time, we have drawn Bayern as our next opponent in the Champions League. First leg is away on April 12 and the second is at home on April 18. Other matchups: Atletico Madrid-Leicester, Borussia Dortmund-Monaco and Juventus-Barcelona.
::Uncontrollable sobbing:: Xabi has confirmed that he will be retiring from football at the end of this season and posted this poignant photo on Twitter.
I knew it was coming, but it still hurts. Let’s hope our (I’ll always think of him as ours) GQMF decides to continue modeling because I don’t think that I can survive without seeing him regularly. What an elegant, smart player. He was a pleasure to watch and I will miss him terribly. (And I hope that Bayern win lots this year so we can get at least one more look at Drunk!Xabi)

It was announced today that there will be an open training session on Tuesday, August 2nd at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ. Bayern will train from 5 PM – 7 PM and Madrid will train from 7 PM – 9 PM. Tickets are $20 and general admission. You can purchase them here. I’m planning on going. Anyone else?
