Memorial Day Bits & Bobs

27 May

943153_461596330598741_1161387953_nHope everyone in the US enjoyed their Memorial Day! I know I did. It was a beautiful sunny day and we had a fantastic view of the NY harbor from watishista DK’s roof deck. I’m sleepy from the heat and ready to get some sleep but first a few things…

First and most importantly, Robbie Rogers was subbed in for the last 13 minutes of the LA Galaxy’s 4-0 win over Seattle Sounders. In that moment, he became the first openly gay male to play in a major American professional sport. He was greeted with a standing ovation. I am so incredibly pleased for him. There’s a fan support page for him on Facebook if you want to go and send a little note of encouragement. Continue reading

15 Oct

The boys finished up their final preparations for the match tomorrow, bringing equal parts of energy for drills & prettiness for us. As always, La Roja’s final training session was filled with smiles and some of the boys got a special little visit from some amis….*hint* *hint*

La Roja, Day 2: Training & Presser

5 Sep

Of course I’m going to lead with a Sernando shot. It’s about the only thing that’s helping me keep my tenuous grasp on sanity right now. I need about a hundred more of these.  Continue reading

Goals on Goals on Goals

2 Jun

Sorry these are coming at you so late, but here are the lovely pics & gifs & vids from La Roja’s friendly against South Korea! This second friendly was a much better showing than the first, match by match the boys are working better together and most importantly….NANDO SCORED!!! WOOT WOOT! He says he’s got the right stuff..I can see it in his walk, tell it when he talk, can see it in everything he does, even in his thoughts…ok, I don’t know his thoughts but he says he’s in the best form ever and I hope he gets his chance to prove himself. Do it for Sergio, Nando! Ok, onward. To the post. Continue reading

A Friendly 2-0

28 May

On Saturday, we said hello to the many new faces of La Roja and yesterday we said goodbye to most of them. All the newbies got some play time and took the spots of either the injured or those still on club duty, which is why it was no surprise that it took some time to figure out how the team was going to work and get the job of winning done. They succeeded in the end, with the subs at halftime making the major difference. With two more friendlies to go, the boys have got two weeks to get the Spanish machine running perfectly! La Roja Trains Part II

25 May

I wonder if Jesus is bitchfacing because Nando is arriving tonight? I still think he should bromance with Silva (or Mata). They would be pocket sized adorable. Really looking forward to the match tomorrow. If you want to check out more training video, here’s a bit at Cuatro. The La Roja part starts at about 11:38. You’re about to be subjected to a lot of Sergio & Iker. Hope you don’t mind! Continue reading

Daily Overdose Of La Roja Part II

24 May

Business as usual, I see!

The jokes write themselves people. This really is the easiest sport in the world to perv on, isn’t it? Anyhow, gird your loins and pour a drink. Two more parts of La Roja to soldier through and then we get to the other national teams. Continue reading

UPDATED: La Roja Boys, Boys, Boys!

21 May

To Las Rozas, the boys go! International duty begins today, as it’s time for La Roja to prepare for their upcoming friendlies against Serbia (I almost wrote Sergio, why did I have to open up with this pic?!) on the 26th, and South Korea on the 30th. Some very happy news? Tormata will join the group on the 25th! Well, maybe it’s not so happy news for Sergio…but maybe if he ditches that awful red jacket, that even his hair is trying to get away from, Nando will only have eyes for Sese. Continue reading
