14 Sep

BxaVc8aIYAAgrEqCongrats to the Spanish Women’s National Team who qualified for their first ever World Cup with a win over Romania yesterday. In the run up to that match, some of their buddies from La Roja (Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Koke, Raúl García, Marc Bartra, Cesar Azpilicueta, Cesc Fabregas and Santi Cazorla) made a video to show their support. Several members of La Roja (and Diego Costa – yes, I know he’s a member but I’m still bitter about it) appeared in Maldita Nerea’s (in association with Iberdrola) video for Buena Energía. Continue reading

7 Apr

its a girlThe trend of babies having babies continues… César Azpilicueta and his girlfriend (whose name I sadly do not know – if anyone does, please let me know – she did all the heavy lifting on this one!) became the parents of a baby girl Monday, March 31 who they named Martina. Wow! Dave’s a daddy!

“Who let Diego Costa in here?”

You know peeps were thinking that upon his arrival today…mmhmm. Boy, I would not want to be in his position. It’s tough enough being the new guy, imagine being the new guy AND Diego Costa. Yikes, no thank you! I’m sure Diego thought his arrival was going to be the attention grabber of the day and maybe it was in other places, but at HB&HB we’re all about the easy, breezy, beautiful Xabi arrival and Sergio’s crotch pockets…yes, crotch pockets. Confederations Cup Final: Brazil vs Spain

Brazil v Spain: Final - FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013

Nando’s face says it all, doesn’t it? *Sigh* This game, this game, this game. There’s really not a whole lot to talk about since it was so obvious that Spain was outplayed. As a La Roja fan, it’s disappointing, but Brazil deserved the win completely. I do think that this loss will only help La Roja though. It brings them down a notch and now they have to really look at the way they play, get to reset & regroup as they continue to work towards being successful in qualifying for the 2014 WC and adding another star to their jerseys. Better they have their Brazilian wake up call now, rather than later, that’s for sure.

Confederations Cup: Nigeria vs Spain

26 Jun

I tell ya, with all the Sernando action this match brought, I almost wouldn’t have minded if La Roja didn’t make it to the Semifinals. They did make it though, beating Nigeria 3-0. I was actually surprised Spain didn’t concede a goal or two, not only because it was Valdes it goal (I keed, I keed) but because Nigeria was showing some major spunk. They broke through Spain’s defense quite a few times and their shots were just off, not enough finish to make it happen. La Roja just keep chugging along, moving through the tournament, having no problem finishing off their goals. Yay for Nando, his scoring continues! His goal and Jordi Alba’s brace were enough to send Spain through to the Semifinals, where they’ll face Italy. The Italian NT say it won’t be a repeat of the Euro final…..I’m excited to see how the match turns out and we don’t have to much longer to wait, just 24 hours or so. 😉
