Ronaldo World Premiere

19 Oct

Ronaldo the movieScreenings for the Cristiano movie have been announced for a number of US cities. Here in NYC, it will be shown at two locations on both November 9th (the world premiere) and again on November 14th. Of course, I’m going to be out of town both dates. Grrrrr… However, if you’re like me and can’t make a screening, you will be released on DVD, Blu-Ray and digital HD on November 10th.  Really looking forward to seeing this! You can keep up with all the news at the film’s Facebook site.

Cristiano Movie Trailer Debuts

28 Sep

The trailer for Cristiano’s movie was released today and it doesn’t disappoint. There’s a whole lotta Crispy, as one would expect and extra helpings of Junior. Watch till the end of the trailer to see the adorable Cris Junior causing his papa some consternation. It’s pretty hilarious. Kids say the darnedest things.

The movie comes out on November 9th.

Cristiano Documentary In The Works

9 Jun

Crispy announced that there’s a documentary being made about this life. You can follow the progress on Twitter and Facebook. Please, god, let there be a whole section devoted to a look inside his closet, because I want to count how many giant Gucci belt buckles he really has. (Adorable picture of Jr., BTW)

RISE: A Documentary of the Canadian Women’s National Team

3 Jun

doyle-rise25rv1RISE is a recently-released documentary following the Canadian Women’s National Team leading up to the 2015 Women’s World Cup. It was compiled over a three-year span, starting with a chronicling of the team’s dead last finish at the 2011 Women’s World Cup through to the controversies and bronze medal win at the 2012 Olympics in London through to preparations for this summer. Told via the player’s own voices along with head coach John Herdmann, this is a fantastic and emotionally intimate view into the squad leading the charge for World Cup glory. Continue reading

Sepp Blatter and FIFA: E:60 Reports with Jeremy Schaap

20 May

sepp I’ve been meaning to get this up for the past week, but if you haven’t yet seen the documentary Jeremy Schaap did about FIFA and Sepp, you really do owe it to yourself to watch it. Here’s a link to the ESPNFC site where it’s available in 5 parts.  Prepare to be even more disgusted than you probably already are with this man and his organization. The corruption is so deeply ingrained in FIFA that one has to wonder if it can ever be cleansed. May 29 will see Blatter seeking his 5th term as president at the FIFA Congress in Zurich.  Can anyone beat him and remove this cancer from the beautiful game? It remains to be seen. When FIFA is involved, as we all know, money talks. And the money trail and lack of transparency detailed in this documentary is jaw dropping.
