It’s Official: Welcome Chioma!

Our latest official signing for CD Tacon / Real Madrid is USA / English forward Chioma Ubogagu! The 26-year-old joins us from Orlando Pride for whom she played the past two seasons. She has also played for Arsenal, Houston Dash, and Brisbane Roar.

A tired Norway is out; England on to the Semis

This was not the game I expected. I thought that this would be a hard fought match. However, the Norway we saw against Australia was not the Norway that showed up here. (And to be honest, that exhausting game may well have been the reason for Norway’s performance.) It’s a shame for many reasons. But the one reason I want to mention is that this result may give England a false sense of confidence. Yes, they won 3-0. However, their play continues to be sloppy and their defense is questionable. They just have been lucky that they have not had to pay for their iffy play.

Cameroon under investigation after Round of 16 match with England; England progress to the Quarterfinals

I have to admit. This is a rough report to write. There’s the match and then there’s what went on in the match, at half time, after the match and now the aftermath. This is a developing story so keep a look out. Teri and I both have some thoughts but I’ll start with the actual report first and then we’ll get into it.

England win Group D

Japan and England were both through to the Round of 16 but this match was quite competitive. The scoreline was a little bit misleading as both goal keepers worked very hard and kept the totals low. However, the Lionesses will prefer to meet Cameroon than the Netherlands and will be happy with the win.

England progress but Correa shines

England were heavy favorites for this match and came roaring out of the gates from the word Go. However, it did not appear that they were expecting the Argentine Keeper to be prepared for the long fight. Within the first two minutes, Bronze was on the deck after a collision with Borroso and Cometti had fed a nice ball to Jaimes which was called for offsides. All within the first two minutes.
