Balls and Boots and Bangers and … Golden Tweets?
21 JulI’m late bringing you this as I was waiting for a Women’s World Cup all-star team to be announced first. One hasn’t been and likely won’t be. I guess FIFA just wasn’t interested in doing this anymore. Oh well. At least we still have the individual awards to celebrate and debate. Continue reading

England’s tactical errors gift the USA the chance for a fourth title
6 JulHow do I open for this match? Hmmm. How do I open? *drums fingernails on chin* Hmmm. Do I start with England’s colossal tactical failures? Hmmm. Do I start with the USA not just parking the bus but buying and decorating it as well? Hmmm. Maybe I should go with the poor sportsmanship displayed by players on both teams? Or maybe, how about … Continue reading
A tired Norway is out; England on to the Semis
1 JulThis was not the game I expected. I thought that this would be a hard fought match. However, the Norway we saw against Australia was not the Norway that showed up here. (And to be honest, that exhausting game may well have been the reason for Norway’s performance.) It’s a shame for many reasons. But the one reason I want to mention is that this result may give England a false sense of confidence. Yes, they won 3-0. However, their play continues to be sloppy and their defense is questionable. They just have been lucky that they have not had to pay for their iffy play. Continue reading

Cameroon under investigation after Round of 16 match with England; England progress to the Quarterfinals
26 JunI have to admit. This is a rough report to write. There’s the match and then there’s what went on in the match, at half time, after the match and now the aftermath. This is a developing story so keep a look out. Teri and I both have some thoughts but I’ll start with the actual report first and then we’ll get into it. Continue reading
England win Group D
21 JunJapan and England were both through to the Round of 16 but this match was quite competitive. The scoreline was a little bit misleading as both goal keepers worked very hard and kept the totals low. However, the Lionesses will prefer to meet Cameroon than the Netherlands and will be happy with the win. Continue reading
England progress but Correa shines
18 JunEngland were heavy favorites for this match and came roaring out of the gates from the word Go. However, it did not appear that they were expecting the Argentine Keeper to be prepared for the long fight. Within the first two minutes, Bronze was on the deck after a collision with Borroso and Cometti had fed a nice ball to Jaimes which was called for offsides. All within the first two minutes. Continue reading
