Sepp Blatter and FIFA: E:60 Reports with Jeremy Schaap

20 May

sepp I’ve been meaning to get this up for the past week, but if you haven’t yet seen the documentary Jeremy Schaap did about FIFA and Sepp, you really do owe it to yourself to watch it. Here’s a link to the ESPNFC site where it’s available in 5 parts.  Prepare to be even more disgusted than you probably already are with this man and his organization. The corruption is so deeply ingrained in FIFA that one has to wonder if it can ever be cleansed. May 29 will see Blatter seeking his 5th term as president at the FIFA Congress in Zurich.  Can anyone beat him and remove this cancer from the beautiful game? It remains to be seen. When FIFA is involved, as we all know, money talks. And the money trail and lack of transparency detailed in this documentary is jaw dropping.

Let’s hear it for the ladies

19 Aug

Tonight we gonna party like it’s 1999!…actually tomorrow. ESPN is showing The ’99ers tomorrow night at 8PM, as a part of their Nine for IX documentary series. The doc highlights the 1999 USWNT World Cup winning squad and will feature exclusive footage of the team. I’m really excited to watch this, didn’t we all want to be Brandi Chastain after her PK & jersey ripping celebration?? I know I did. On one hand I’m so glad ESPN sent out reminders for the premiere of The ’99ers, and on the other I’m pissed they didn’t advertise the entire Nine for IX series. Each doc focused on stories of women in sports and each were directed by female filmmakers. Grrrr…I would’ve loved to watch the whole thing. After The ’99ers, the final doc airing will be Branded, which will examine the role sex and sex symbols play in the lives of female athletes. Branded will air on the 27th, if anyone is interested. So remember, catch The ’99ers tomorrow night at 8PM on ESPN! Check out a few clips & outtakes after the jump. Continue reading
