Xabi the Ball Magnet, His Gamedayplus Interview, and Shoelace Tying

1 Oct

Ball magnet. That’s how the German media are referring to Xabi, especially following Bayern’s 2-0 win over FC Köln on the weekend. He managed to set two Bundesliga records in that game: number of touches (204, though some outlets are reporting 206) and number of completed passes (175). Plus he’s already won two Man of the Match awards as well. I knew he’d be successful in Germany but damn. Continue reading

Summer Transfer Window Recap – Serie A/Bundesliga/Ligue 1

9 Sep

Transfer Deadline DayOriginally I was going to do Bundesliga and Serie A on their own. But seeing as a lot of us also have love for certain Ligue 1 players (I’m a bit in love with a bunch of PSG players) I decided I needed to add some French league love. Continue reading

Stadium turned war zone, this riot caused by some FC Koln fans is absolutely terrifying! Remind me to never go to a match where a team is facing relegation, because that’s what was up yesterday. Koln was losing to Bayern Munich, 1-4, and had to be ended early because of fans going mad in the final minutes – setting off flares and storming the pitch. Seeing police officers backing up from a crowd is never a good sign, and those fans sticking around to watch the scene? Let me tell you, if I was there, my ass would’ve been up & out of there so damn fast! After all the incidents we’ve seen in football stadiums, I’ll never understand how people can continue to put so many others in danger over the dumbest shit. When will they fucking learn? The Daily Drool: Michael Rensing

13 May

Foxy little Michael Rensing is a goalkeeper for 1. FC Köln in the Bundesliga, which he joined in 2011. Prior to that, he was with Bayern Munich from 2003-2010. He also made 18 appearances for the Germany U-21 team in 2004-2006. I absolutely love this unintentionally homoerotic and hilarious photo of him from after Bayern Munich secured their 21st Bundesliga title in 2008.
