Belgian center back/defensive midfielder has been playing for Manchester City since 2008. He previously played for Anderlecht (2003-2006) and Hamburger SV (2006-2008). He started with the Belgian National Team at the tender age of 17 in 2004. He is an ambassador for SOS Childrens Villages. His dad is from the Congo and Vincent has raised funds to help children there.

The Daily Drool: Per Ciljan Skjelbred

10 Sep

So so pretty! Midfielder Per, only 24, began his career with Norwegian side Rosenborg in 2004 (playing 156 matches and scoring 9 goals). He  moved to Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga in 2011. He has represented Norway on the under-16, 17, 18, 19, 21, and the senior national teams, making 16 appearances since 2007.

The Daily Drool: Marcus Berg

8 Aug

Even though he shares Sergio’s love of the dish towel scarf, striker Markus is still quite lovely to look at, no?  He plays for Hamburger SV of the Bundesliga (since 2009) but spent the 2010-2011 season on loan to PSV Eindhoven. He has played for the Swedish National Team (U21 and senior) since 2008.

The Daily Drool: Rafael van der Vaart

21 Jun

Attacking midfielder Rafa and former Madridista (2008-2010) currently plies his trade for Tottenham Hotspur (and had a great season). He also played for Ajax (2000-2005) and Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga (2005-2008). He’s been a mainstay on the Dutch National Team since 2001. His wife Sylvie is a breast cancer survivor and her stories about his love and support during her battle are truly beautiful. You are a classy man, Rafa. May you go from strength to strength. UPDATED: As if he wasn’t already awesome enough, Rafa tweeted today (it’s June 16th as I write this) that he and Sylvie renewed their wedding vows in Las Vegas. Pictures after the jump!

The Daily Drool: Ruud Van Nistelrooy

21 May

Dutch striker Ruud currently plays for Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga. He has had a long career:  Den Bosch (1993–1997), Heerenveen (1997–1998), PSV Eindhoven (1998–2001), Manchester United (2001–2006) and of course, Real Madrid (2006–2010). He is the second highest scorer in Champions League history (behind Raul).  He loves Madrid passionately and when we had our striker crisis, we tried to get him back (and he was more than willing) but Hamburger wouldn’t release him (Warning: reading this article will break your heart all over again). He has been a member of a Dutch National Team since 1998.

The Daily Drool: Mladen Petrić

23 Apr

Well, hello there! Mladen is a 30 year old forward who plays for Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga.  He’s also been a member of the Croatian National Team since 2001. Last month, he made news when the team bus was pulled over by the cops and he was asked to get off the bus – so that a police woman could get his autograph! The Hotness makes people crazy apparently!
